This is what it seems like these type of threads/topics are about. Muhfuhs mad. Cause the South is popular. This is it at the end of the day. As a South dude aint no region hatin from me shts lame and backwards. Nobody got time to live in the past.

I dont want to snap because I understand some are frustrated and I aint no region hater. But the "the South popularized..." argument has some serious flaws. Its saying the South just runs it and dictates and yall just cant do nothin cause the "Big bad South" is runnin things. Doesnt look good on your part at all. Just sayin.

bruh that was a whole bunch of nonsense. Tell me I wrong.

When it comes to money & fame, its always been follow the leader, which planet u live on?

When Master P was scoring with all them plat albums of No Limit, thats when a tidal wave of no lyric ass Rappers emerged gettin play in mainstream media, even from NYC which was on heard of.

kids know no better, so for the youngins, this is there "golden age", so they emulate that shit, so wackness snowballing right now.

You can't blame the youth, because no matter which era u grew up in, you propably gonna assume its one of the best, cause u have no real reference...for eg, if you grow up in the 80's, your gonna think 80's pop/rnb in some of the best shit in existence....but a cat that grew up in the 70's most likely gonna disagree.

Its always been like that.

I guess my question is; how come listeners prefer sing song rap where they drag out words over straight spitting? That's what people on the IC are posting when they post links. 9 times out of 10 when somebody posts something on the IC it's some non rapping rapper.

@ Peezy Jenkins. You keep telling me to stop making threads, but you keep clicking on them. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over an over again and expecting different results. Stop clicking on my threads and telling me to "stop making threads". You're making a fool of yourself.

Also, I don't really listen to the radio but when I do I listen to WDAS, they're the bomb! They play nothing but grown man music. 70s soul, modern R&B and old school hip hop. I don't have anything negative to say about the radio stations in Philadelphia. My gripe is with the stuff that the posters on The IC post.

I think thats what alot of people perfer because the what gets the most play on the radio....but thats just my opinion

It's 2015. There are waaaay to many artists and ways to listen to them to be complaining about mainstream rap. Like for real. Music is every where Bruh!

I used to be that nigga (still am to an extent) who only used to listen to underground shit.

I still never listen to the radio now. Unless its sports talk radio, I'm usually with my phone plugged in my aux in the car or a cd.

That's hot!

They stay complaining.. The same ones who make songs like this..

Future - Like Ohh:

Can make meanful songs they overlook because they wanna focus on the negative. That's like when a person take 1 bad picture but a million good ones. These type of people just like to focus on the negative picture. So they see it negative.

Of course its a bigger picture, but if you don't want2 see the good in some artist or people u not gonna c it. U wanna focus on all the negative. Everyone have a negative picture and positive. See the bigger picture

Because half the fools are to leaned out to spit out a full coherent sentence. It's my opinion as well that in the early years of hip hop they had something to prove, a message to convey. They wanted to present themselves and represent the culture as an intelligent form of poetry. I've always thought that the simplicity of the beats back then allowed for the MC to just lyrically kill it where as now the beat is mostly the major part of a track. Everyone traded lyrics for bass.

I sounded stupid as shit last night. I was a little tipsy by this point on that old school vs new school sound. I need to clarify and add to this. I don't take back what I said about the old school hip hop movement but it's unfair to say that all rap today is shitty in comparison.

There are tons of rappers or MCs who still put out that sick lyrical style of hip hop which I prefer over most. To say that no rappers are capable of this today is dumb. I don't really care for that leaned out style with the slurring or mumbling of the words but that's my personal opinion. Does this mean it's wack? No, just not for me. With advances in technology and sound artists want to explore sounds, get experimental and such. When someone finds that sound people want to hear the rest of the artists flock to that sound to cash in on it.

If you want lyrical get away from the radio and do some research. New albums are coming out everyday from cats with lyrics. J Cole, Joey BADA$$, Cj Fly, Oddisee, Diamond District, Bas....... All these dudes are out today killing it lyrically.

Niggas be whining on tracks and that shit take off. Its crazy. Im just waiting for joints to be nothing ad libs and 808s. Its just that melody or (whatever you wanna call it that these niggas do) its easier to follow along with.

Fetty Wap cant sing at all but its catchy so it sells. Artists are afraid to take chances but its nothing new. There will always be a wave.

And yall complaining niggas yall better support my shit when it drop too. Im looking at you 5 Grand.

"Album is coming December just wait on it"

If I say, "todays rappers slur their words and use auto tune" the first thing anybody will say is, 'stop listening to the radio, there's other stuff out there but you just have to find it"

But the thing is, I'm not talking about the rap on the radio, I'm talking about the stuff people post on the IC. I listen to 105.3 WDAS in Philadelphia. They play 70s and 80s soul, R&B and old school Hip Hop. So as far as the radio is concerned I'm satisfied with what they play. No complaints there.

The stuff I'm talking about is the stuff that gets posted HERE on the IC. Don't respond to my post by saying, "turn off the radio". I'm not talking about the stuff on the radio, I'm talking about what you guys are posting here.

Back to Back is a good example of what I'm talking about. People are saying its the GOAT diss and goes hard in the club. But he's either using auto tune or he has a really nasal voice. I can't tell. I don't know if the way he drags out words is his style or if everybody is doing it.

I see what you're saying, and I have always looked at this forum as more or less a "mainstream" forum, I mean if I get on here talking about (King Bo, Ampachino, Rich The Factor, Mitchy Slick, Joe Blow) the type of rappers I listen to, we'd spend more time explaining who they are than the actual music itself.

I agree though we spend too much time focusing on music that most of us collectively think is trash.

Whoever said "is what the labels want" basically hit it on the money, artist is tryinta get paid right away and not wait to build a solid fanbase. Unfortunately they trade long term success for short term success, I cant judge another man for getting just dont expect me to buy ur wack shit or care when irrelevant next year.

Yeah because it's impossible now to find old music to hear what it sounded like. If only we had something like the internet to help us find old music

Listen to most of these mainstream rappers they mostly use that funny voice with that same flow and delivery. You know rappers these days like to jump on the bandwagon and ride the wave of whatever is hot.

you have to blame the record companies. they mold most of these rappers into an image and tell them the type of content they want in their music. I've actually sat in on a record company meeting I sort of know how these things work. most of these rappers sound the same and that's for a reason. they didn't have that style before they got signed.
