thats whole different genre. It has to do with the overall sound imo thats why younger dudes don't like it, i never been a big rakim fan, krs 1, or any of that not because i think they suck because it just doesn't appeal to me.

so just say the beats and mixing was wack

lol idk what that was for but i'll post a collection of these hip hop tapes i got i'm talking tapes.

I got vinyls old as my mother, the best samples come from the 60's 70's..

You can better appreciate todays music when you immerse yourself in the music of yesterday, even Hiphop...I like to here the evolution in the sounds from one era to the next.

I Like the 80's much more, it died in the late 1990's when those two rappers got killed.

basically what you're saying is thought-provoking rhymes that inspire you to do better doesn't appeal to the younger artists like guns, sex and violence. that's why the kids aren't feeling cats like that, because they aren't GANGSTA enough. they don't think they're speaking reality or the reality they think exists. who would want to live in an existence like that and be proud of it and want to remain there?

i dont like a lot of old school rap music but it dont mean i dont have respect for what they have done for the genre. to me it seems like fans are in what have you done for me lately mode.

in other words they're fickle like typical pop music fans. what's hot this month won't be next month.

I think the repsect died when the older generation proceeded to talk massive shit about the newer generation resulting in the newer generation sayin', "Fuck you old irrelevant ass niggas".

Nothing wrong with wanting the music to evolve..but it's a problem when kids act like they can't play some Wu-Tang with their Soulja Boy...or A Tribe Called Quest with their Drake/Lil Wayne..or Rakim with their Lil Wayne.

I can listen to the latest Freddie Gibbs song and go back and listen to some classic Kool G. Rap. I can listen to the new J. Cole and go back and listen to some classic N.W.A...I can even listen to a Lil Wayne song (whether it's wack or not) and go back and listen to some classic Geto Boys/Scarface...can most of this generation do that in one fell swoop without saying "awww man, this shit is too old", or "I just can't get with this because it doesn't sound good?" or some other irrelevant dumb shit?
