lol how...she did what any other rationale mother would do when put in that situation. The character I dislike the most is the eldest daughter of the starks. The one who has been given up for marriage. You can tell by the way they are building her character (she's infatuated with wealth/celebrity) that she's going to eventually betray her family. She's in such a rush to be queen/get a taste of the good life.

good point about the incest. It was the norm in alot of monarcharies and used to keep the 'bloodline strong'. I'm sure that if and when it comes out ppl wont care too much about the incest but more about the Queen betraying the King, the Kingslayer betraying the king again and the crown prince being illegtimate.

call me crazy but I wouldnt be suprised if Alyssa had her husband killed and pinned it on the Lannisters, its a major stretch but I could see her pulling that move

and with Cat I mentioned in earlier thread how motherly instincts came into play and she captured Tyrion before he could put her on full blast, but I dont like the way she treats Jon and her kidnapping Ned has lead to a potential war between the Starks & Lannisters. She should have fell back or come with another plan before kidnapping him.

The writing in this show is off the chain. The creators of the show have done this thing where they have physical sparring, and verbal sparring...the first convo between Ned and Jaime, Imp and the Bastard, King Robert and Cearsie...etc.

Jamie was salty at fuck at that soldier that stabbed Ned in the leg before they could finish the fight. That nigga made him look weak thats why he broke that nigga nose. LOL. But that fight scene was dope. I honestly did not know who would win. But if I'm Ned I'm mad as shit at Cat cuz he told her to hold off on trying to get at Tyrion. She let her emotions take over instead of really finishing the investigation.

Oh and her sister who's running the Eerie is crazy as hell. She breasfeeding a damn teenager!! I wonder if she was like that always or if she just lost her mind after her husband Jon Arryn was killed.

Yeah you're right it usually is just cousins. I just thought that cause the blonde haired brother and sister(I forgot their names, the ones coming back to reclaim their throne) were open like that too (remember in the first episode the way he touched her naked body), that seeing/smashing your family wasn't TOTALLY outrageous. I would compare it to being gay nowadays.

I still feel like the best omg moment was the first 10 mn of the first episode.

1) The grave site of bodies was crazy visual, especially when the scout turned around right into the dead corpse
2) When you saw the Predator looking muhfuckas. See I saw the first episode after I saw episode 3/4. It turned out great cause I had genuine shock about the wildly hyped winter beast. I was just as shook as the scouts. If you can, watch episode 1 again.
3) The sequence where: Lord stark finds out about the deserter, tells his wife he's taking the youngest son, then cuts off the deserters head with no hesitation, was theatrical genius to me.

I wanna talk about point 3 though. That shit was so quality to me. First, in our society, we are used to boys growing up "by accident or circumstance." But it was cool to see how in their world, manhood or maturity was a forced growth. We see that theme continuously with the arranged marriage, the upcoming winter, the military training, the brothels, the joust matches...pretty much everything. Secondly it was cool because we are accustomed to some long drawn out speech between the victim and attacker about why he should/shouldn't be killed. In this scene there was no moral dilemma. There was not one ounce of artificially added skepticism. That let you know the producers weren't about coddling us the viewers. I loved that. And then in the next scene he damn near kills a bunch of baby wolves and has a heartfelt moment. Classic!

The first 10 mn absolutely set the tone for this series.

So I got hbo on demand and went back and caught up on some past episodes:

Episode 2
What kind of dogs are those? I’ve had a Siberian husky and the dogs in the show are quite different. I think that’s real as shit how back in the day, they domesticated wolves. Wolves b….

The only reason lady stark ain’t suspect the queen of wrong doing is because of her heartfelt story. I do believe it was a smokescreen but the tears were 100% real.

The fact that the nights watch is a lifetime commitment is super wack. But for snow, it’s his calling. He has nothing else in life. He won’t ever be accepted as a Stark. He needs something he can call his own. Lady stark didn’t even want him sharing his condolences with the Crippled Stark.

Thats just me assuming from how Ned was acting when being asked about Jon Snow's mom by both King Robert and Jon Snow himself. Especially when King Robert asked him about it. He was real nervous and defensive about it.

But after rewatching it again last night.....Remember when the Queen went to see Bran and was telling his mom about the her first born son for Robert. The black haired boy that died of fever. She said they took his body away but she was never allowed to see where he was taken or had been to his crypt. I think Jon Snow is that boy she's talking about. It could be that Ned is his father and the Queen and him came up with a plan to make sure Robert never knew so they fake the lil boy's death and Ned actually ends up taking him back to Winterfell with him.

they did a good job on casting in this show. everybody you hate is who you supposed to hate and vice-versa. no overacting or fucked up fake accents, corniness kept to a minimum.

i like the whole dynamic between Ned and Jon, too... summed up with this line

"you're a stark... you dont have my name but you have my blood."

usually with a story like that the son and pops dont meet/know each other at first, but i like how they played it with him keepin it G with his boy no matter how his wife feel about it.

besides ned... tyrion the dwarf and arya stark (no pedo) are my favorite characters, they have the most room for character development as this show goes along.

the lannister family (besides the dwarf) make for good antagonists as a family unit. crafty muthfuckas

Just saw the preview for the episode on Sunday again and noticed it said after you watch episode 6 you can watch episode 7 "the episode everyone will be talking about" on HBO go a week early.. I remember when they used to do that for the last season of The Wire On Demand after the new episode was shown.. Brighthouse or Comcast better get this HBO GO quick so I can peep this early or at least have it on demand like they did The Wire.

Btw I think episodes 7-10 are gonna be crazy!

I find it intriguing where people feel Jon Snow came from.. Whether it's y'all on here, people I talk to about the show or conspiracy theorist who are heavy into the books.

I'd have to say Snow, Arya (Neds youngest daughter) and Tyrion are my favorite characters.

One thing I'm not trying to do is make the mistake of people being good and bad guys because they hyped it as everyone is out for their own.

knowing the dwarf he proably lost that dagger or got rid of it. He seemed to be genuinely shocked by the cold-shouler and he does seem to wanna help Snow & Bran. If he was involved it was indirect at best.

I'm thinking the backstory of the hound & mountain was simply a plot device to introduce the brothers and their stories. They are both of the baddest motherfuckers we'll see. What better way to set the stage than show one of killing someone in friendly competition. They've shown the hound a few times but I dont rember the emphasis on the scares before the last episode.

Wherever Prince lanister goes, the hound is sure to follow. He's like his own personal guard. Plus he's the town executioner. But you can tell he has this internal conflict between right and good/emontional and emotionless.

oh...and don't sleep on the fact that Ned found "the black haired boy" the queen was talkin about. I knew that first child the queen had for Robert was not a lie she told just to sound sympathetic. I think Jamie made her give up the baby so that him and her could produce heirs to take over the Iron throne and the line would be nothing but Lannisters. Thats also the reason why I think Jon Arryn asked for the book that had all of the records of births in Westeros. Remember Arryn's last words were "the seed is strong"......shits getting real deep yo...

I think this is the true story of the tale of the black haired boys

and only John Snow doesn't know who his mother his. In the second episode Lady stark specifically says to Ned before he leaves, "You left before for war with so and so and you came back with an illegitimate son." She said the womans name but I couldn't remember it.

Then in that same episode, the king talks to Ned about the bitches they smashed while at war. And that "he shouldn't be hard on himself cause he didn't actually believe he'd make it back alive." So that means John Snows mother has to be in one of the other 7 kingdoms. And technically don't we (the audience) only know 3 out of 7???

Interesting though, I wonder why Ned gave John the surname Snow? I don't think he was that dumb to name him after his mothers family name.

Regarding the Snow surname its a genric name for bastards in winterfell. Every kingdom has its own. In Jon Arynn's kingdom of mountain the surname for bastards is Stone.

To date Ned hasnt told anyone who Jon's mother is. I dont think Cat mentioned anyone and the King was fishing for a name as well but Ned shot him down.

the Hound has potential to be a real interesting character. He is mostly attached to Joeffrey. He was there when Tyrion was smacking him up. There is another dude with scars who the King's Headsmen. He was bald, had scares and didnt say much cause the mad king pulled out his tougne.

If the story of the queen's 1st son is true (and thats a big if), I'm guessing it was the kid at the blacksmith. He mentioned rembering a mother with blonde hair. It would make sense the Lannisters wanted the next king to be 100% Lannister.
