I was in Thailand last month at the only "hip hop" club they had and I heard no Kendrick records played. I got some Drake, Migos, even some Wiz Khalifa but no K. Dot. He hasn't acquired that worldwide mass appeal that Drake has yet.

But by that logic u are saying Wiz & Migos are bigger hip hop stars than Kendrick

Drake is a pop culture icon

Kendrick is a bigger hip hop icon

I think the proof is in the pudding with his record sales, songs charting, and great reviews across the board

It's amazing to me how Drake is even relevant the past couple years, I mean there was a time even if you weren't feeling it personally you still knew when a song was going to be a hit he had a special talent when it came to making them plus he still wasn't completely played out, now I haven't heard a bearable Drake song in years yet he's still being played constantly, you can't even say the shit is cool to hear in the club it's never cool it never sounds good, it's sheep that keep him relevant

C'mon bruh you know damn well Wiz and Migos ain't better than Kendrick, but If your hip hop records aren't being played in hip hop venues internationally then how are you a bigger hip hop star than those who records are?

Definitely. I think that the quality in Drake's music has taken a dive as well leading up to this point.

Id say internationally Wiz might be, he's sold more than Kendrick and your underestimating his following. He has the young white hipsters and the pot heads. You can go anywhere in the world and people are gonna know who Snoop Dogg is and it has very little to do with his music. I'd put Wiz in that same category.

Migos Culture (2017) earned 131,000 album-equivalent units in its first week (44,000 of which were pure album sales)

Wiz Khalifa (2016) earned 64,000 album-equivalent units; it sold 45,000 copies in its first week

Kendrick DAMN (2017) earned 603,000 album-equivalent units in its first week of release. It sold 353,000 copies in its debut week

"The club" dont control hip hop

LOL @ "lowkey surpassed Drake in hip hop stardom?"

That nigga Drake recently gave an interview where he stated he didn't want to be categorised or boxed in as a HipHop artiste ...

K. Dot got all the 14 joints on his new shit on the top music record charting table (Billboard) on the planet.

Please.

Soooo your point is what exactly? I already told you I think Kendrick is better than all of them but the question was is he the biggest hip hop star. Wiz still has sold more than Kendrick overall and Migos had the #1 song in the country for damn near 4 months so we both can post numbers all day. I guarantee it's a nigga in Liberia somewhere bumping Bad & Boujee and that might be the only English he knows......my point is just because you're the better artist doesn't mean you will have more worldwide appeal. It's all about what gets played in your region.

My point is how can they be bigger stars when they have a smaller fanbase and smaller amount of people supporting their music.

The numbers speak for themself

If the numbers speak for themselves then why didn't you vote no since Drake has a larger fan base, more records sold, and more songs that have charted??

You need to think about the world outside the US and think about how everything filters down thanks to social media.

I've got cousins who are like 15 or so in Pakistan listening to Migos and whatever else is trending, because thats just the way it works, out of that demographic the most popular artists will be the ones who are most accessable. They'll be completely aware of someone like kendrick as well but he just doesn't posess that same appeal to them as he does to actual hip hop heads.

What Ibex is saying is right, these fuckers couldn't tell you a thing about the context but they'll know that shit word for word for whatevers blowing up, little pakistani fuckers man.

Mind boggling to me.

"On the chart dated April 8, More Life topped the Billboard 200 and set a streaming record, earning 505,000 album-equivalent units of which 226,000 were pure sales"

DAMN beat that
