This is the thing with theistic religions. Most people have been following a system of thought all of their lives and were indoctrinated into it as a young child so for them, the pure emotional trumps the logical/rational. They interpret anything as being signs from God to validate their beliefs. Not too long ago, my city had the news anchors out here at one of the power lines because a tree had fallen and somehow it looked like some kind of Christian symbol to them.
