I believe it's more like...the belief in God is losing steam. I don't think the issue is whether God is left to performing second hand magic tricks. People want to believe that when God acts, it's always to make them say..."Wow, I want to be on your side"...and when they are disappointed that those Bible stories are not something they see everyday, they look to anything to rekindle the "Wow" factor. As sincere as they try to be, at the end of the day, they just want to be entertained.
