There's a midnight screening tonight which I'll try to get to.

Reviews seem mixed so far. The opinion so far seems to be that the visuals are great but the story and dialogue is weak, which is kind of what was expected.

don't go in trying to compare it to the original in any way, you'll leave disappointed.Focuses more on action and set pieces than anything philosophical.

Perfectly serviceable as it is (if entirely forgettable) and definitely needs to be seen on a big screen.

This film is a total Frankenstein's monster of all the GITS films and series. It's weird and jarring seeing direct elements and scenes lifted directly from the other properties without their original context.

Regardless of that it's an okay film - nothing really worth shouting about, but also not the disaster I thought it would be. I agree with @lazypakman - go with no expectations and you'll be fine.

Terrible choice to play the Major, awful.

Movie is going to be shitty.

Her performance is actually one of the better things about the movie.

This film is a visual beast though, they really pushed the envelope in that regard, you can probably compare it to something like Blade Runner when that dropped back in the day.
