Again, Ill ask you to elaborate, in your own words
....at least a general synopsis of your views of God as he relates to us, why you dont accept an allegorical view of the Bible, and why you dont believe your doubts can be reconciled with such an interpretation

You spend a lot of time asking questions, it only makes sense that you could spend at least a some time explainin your own views...

*Talks to trieze like you would to a child*

Let me break it down for you

GOD....REAL.....GOD CREATED UNIVERSE.....UNIVERSE HAS MORE THAN ONE GALAXY............MORE THAN ONE LIFEFORM EXISTS.... BIBLE IS MAN MADE.....RELIGION SEPERATES PEOPLE....WANT A TWINKY?

Or maybe the truth is just surfacing...

That you dont actually have an opinion outside of your belief that the Bible isnt true, so there's nothing for you explain...

YOU TOLD ME TO ASK A DAMN QUESTION LMMFAO...

Grown folks are talking huh...grown folks can have an intellectual dialogue not based on a youtube video

So lets try this one more time for the slow kids...

What are your views on God as he relates to us?

Why dont you accept an allegorical view of the Bible?

Why dont you believe your doubts can be reconciled with that sort of view?

LOL LMFAO

meanwhile, you still havent managed to answer the questions YOU TOLD ME TO ASK lls

Sorry homie, but "God is real" isnt an adequate answer to those question, its a cop out....an admission that either you cant answer my questions intelligently, or are just to ignorant to understand them

So no homie, i promise you i dont want to be like you...to dumb to string together an answer of more than one sentence that answers questions speaking to the core of a discussion THAT YOU YOURSELF STARTED...and then mincing words to make myself seem like less of an idiot...

So here's your shot at redemption, one last time

What are your views on God as he relates to us?

Why dont you accept an allegorical view of the Bible?

Why dont you believe your doubts can be reconciled with that sort of view?

Are you smart enough to pull it together...

From the rest of this shit im not sure...

You didnt answer my questions homie but its cool. I dont know how me asking for your opinion makes me someone trying to force my beliefs, but maybe that explains why you are so confused.

Last chance to make yourself not seem like an ass who cant answer a question. Let's try one at a time, maybe that will work...

Why dont you accept an allegorical interpretation of the Bible?

Fair enough? Or are you gonna keep dancing around it?

look why dont i accept an configurative version of a book that has been translated from ancient hebrew and greek, to english? do you speak other languages? if you did you would know it is impossible for a sentence to be fully translated from one to another. Have you played the telephone game? then you would know stories being passed down will be altered. man kind is manipulative,a lot of religion is just modern day slavery. why even take it seriously at all. does it have valuable lessons in it that you should take with you? yes, i still read the bible and those lesson will make you a better person. It is meant to be taken literally? no.

its fully of contradictions but the most obvious would be to send someone to burn in hell for eternitynot for evil deeds but because he doesnt believe....that is bull..

a god damn arc with 2 of every animal in the world? different races and religions spawn from adam and eve? dont same family parents have children with problems?

all this without touching the scientific side of things. day and night doesnt exist as i stated and the story of jesus is no different from all ancient greek mythologies (horus and set) etc

are you happy now? if you drop a bullshit half response i will continue to roast you by editing your quotes and posting pictures

Ah, finally we get somewhere...now...

First, just a tidbit about the the oral history thing. The entirety of the poem Beowulf was preserved orally for many years before it was ever written down. That's more than 3000 lines of poetry memorized word for word. Oral history can be surprisingly accurate.

Next, it is not impossible to translate things from one language to another. There are certain words which dont have a direct translation, but even then there are other words which can accurately convey the intended meaning. This accounts for minor variations in dialogue and the like among different versions

As far as the contradictions are concerned, i would say that none of the contradictions that people find have an impact on the general message which the Bible imparts. Even many of the "line by line" contradictions that people mention often arent contradictions at all when taken in the context of the different passages from which they are taken, or the context of the Bible as a whole.

Last, the part that makes the least sense to me. You say you appreciate the lessons taught by the Bible, understand that it isnt meant to be taken literally. Then why do you ask trivial questions like how could the arc be real, or how could people come from Adam and Eve? If you understand it is an inspired narrative and not a literal story, then why is that hard to understand? If thats what you believe then why do you ask about literal interpretations of the text? You should understand that those stories were meant to impart a message, not to be taken as direct account of what actually happened

thats the whole problem. if you are a believer in the bible then it is to b taken literally. people who dont are deemed "luke warm". that is the belief of a true christian, not those who conform to the world. Why do you think the bible gives such a grim warning at the end about editing any piece of it?

It isnt supposed to edited because it is supposed to be the inspired word of God and any random edits would not be divinely inspired.

Now, I received most of my religious education from Lutheran teachers and Pastors in middle school, and then from Catholic teachers in high school. They are the people who taught me to interpret the Bible this way. Those are two of the most conservative denominations of Christianity. So Im not sure why you think Christians arent supposed to understand the Bible this way. All I could say is that maybe previously you were a part of a mort strict or less understanding religious community. Even so, such an approach still has its place in the realm of Christianity. Ive never attended church regularly in my life, but would still consider myself Christian, and dont find my beliefs to be contrary to those of the Christian church.
