...and no mention of Phelps weed smoking or arrests

Don't see what Phelps has to do with this though. he caught the same thing last time around. This is what happens today in sports, everyone wants to knock who's every on top down. Hope Solo probably got the worst of it this time around.

lol Peope just like making random ass comparisons that don't mean shit. Pointing out that Phelps didn't "show the proper respect for the anthem" was valid though.

True, but we all know this isn't about the anthem, but instead the state of society where people feel the need to tear others down to feel good.

Gabby will be alright. She accomplished alot already.

This that Jigga man shit, they love u, then hate u, then love u again.

The yahoo article made it seem like she is salty about how the judges got rid of 'perfect 10' scoring system. Gabby is a technical gymnast and the new score system rewards gymnasts like Simone who is more a powerful than technical.

It's funny because bullying affects everybody who is getting bullied. People are caping for Gabby (rightfully so) but some of the same folks be going in on other people who might bot be as popular. I'm sure it affects the majority of people the same way. Look at the Leslie Jones shit and she's a grown ass woman.

For better or for worse, we live our lives through this strange cyber world these days, and we are only going to get more and more dependent on it for social interaction. Thats an over simplification by Tyler, the Creator.

It's not an over simplification by any means. The only way you're "cyber bullied" is if you expose yourself to social media. Remove that from your life and it goes away. No one NEEDS social media at all.

Easy to say for a common nobody.

Gabby is a young celebrity at the end of her career already.

She needs social media to stay relevant and in the public eye for possible business opportunities

No one needs it but it's right there on your phone. Not bein' able to go on social media because you're a target for bullyin' might just be as bad as the actual bullyin' itself.

It's a new problem.

bullshit.

Olympic athletes go back to their everyday lives when they're done. Sure some of them might go on to commercial endorsements, maybe TV appearances and whatnot, but that's about it. Shit, FloJo went back to work at a bank and doing hair and nails after the 84 and, IIRC, 88 Olympics. We had a guy that worked at my facility in Scottsdale that competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics. He came back, the president of the company took a few pics with him and life went on.

There's thousands of Olympic athletes that go back to their everyday lives after the competition. Plenty of those have medals to boot. There's only so much interest in Olympic athletes that actually win gold medals and next to ZERO for those that get silver or bronze. Gabby had her moment 4 years ago, it's time for her to move on or train even harder for Tokyo in 2020.

I'm still surprised she let the innanets tear her down like that. I would've BEEN told the cyber world to kiss my gold-medaled ass.

I don't know if that's what Gabby was upset about, but that does explain a lot of the confusion I've been having watching. I didn't understand some of the scores. Like take Simone and Aly yesterday. They both had good routines, but Aly's looked a lot cleaner. She didn't have any hops or anything. Simone's looked stronger, but I don't think she landed anything clean. Yet, Simone won and by a pretty fair margin.

So if that is what Gabby is upset about, I can understand it because it definitely put her at a disadvantage.

This is true for many, but you have to be careful making blanket statements. You basically comparing the experience of "some guy you know" to someone who is a household name. Gabby was a darling coming out of the last Olympics. Had she done well this Olympics and maintained a good reputation, she could have easily segwayed her Olympic career into motivational appearances at places. If you can make a living by doing appearances after being on a reality show, you can certainly make a living doing that after winning muliple golds at the Olympics.
