but mind you, i never got to watch GI Joe growing up
so i don't know how it should have been done

If you didn't grow up on G.I. Joe than the 1st one wouldn't be that bad even though it wasn't great. But any G.I. Joe fan was sick to their stomach. "G.I. Joe" the cartoon movie made the live action movie look like crap. 1st the effects weren't good. 2nd even though it was an origin story, the fact that Destro and Cobra Commander were weak was terrible. Next the casting outside of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and maybe Scarlet was weak. I would of been ok if they brought back Marlon Waynes to keep some continunity but I understand why he was fired as well as most of the cast. From what i'm seeing from the sequel they made sure to make it more action pack. As for the character's here's who some of the new people are playing:

The Rock: ROADBLOCK (He looks just like him, great casting)

Bruce Willis: General Colton (He's not bald but I think Bruce will pull him off well)

RZA: Blind Master (Can't wait to see Rza in this role, Blind Master Trained Jinx)

Duke wasn't a good casting with Channing Tatum but I understand they needed to appeal to the younger crowd. Overall I'm really excited, after "Transformers" i was praying a G.I. Joe live Action film came out. I actually wish Michael Bay did them cause his action style is perfect for the G.I. Joe Universe. I played with these toys religiously as a kid. G.I. Joe's were better than He Man and other toys cause they were flexible and you could almost do anything with them.

Say what you want about Michael Bay's "Transformers" series, 80's babies from all over the world fell in love with the series all over again with the release of the now blockbuster "Transformers Trilogy" and it's now one of the highest grossing series ever. Well the 1 cartoon that was more popular in the 80's than "Transformers" was "G.I. Joe" but in 2009 with the release of the Live Action version, many 80's babies left the theater unhappy with the lack of action, the weak effects and the bad costumes. Well the movie did gross over 300 Million worldwide, but had a budget of 175 million, the studio wasn't happy with the box office results. So they fired the whole cast and switched directors. The only highlights of the original were Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Well this Summer 3 years later on June 29th. G.I. Joe returns. The only cast members coming back from the original are Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The Rock is now featured as Roadblock and Bruce Willis as General Colton. The action looks amazing, the effects are way better and the whole movie looks hard body. The plot took a page from the up and coming "M:I4: Ghost Protocal" with the government turning on the Joe's but it's all good. This one actually has me excited, check out the trailer.

Dont get me started on the illusion a GOAT trilogy know as Micheal Bey's Transformers or that last Dark Knight movie that made me question what the Joker really was all about. I am part of the minority that like the first G.I. Joe movie. I hope this one is even better.

The rock doesnt look like roadblock to me, and they didnt have lady jay with the short hair, or have flint rocking his beret but it is a step in the right direction so far from what they showed.

SMH @ Them pushing it back 9 months all the way to March just so it can do some bullshit cash grab for 3D. How in the hell do you give up Summer 4th of July Money and move this to March a month before it's released? I think Hasbro is scared after "Battleship" flopped and they don't want this flop but this was looking way better than Part 1. I can't believe this did this.

They were afraid that too many of the same type movies have come out at the same time and that this would get lost in the shuffle. Avengers, Battleship, MIB3, and the Amazing Spiderman; GI Joe would have not faired so well.

The foreign markets dictated this move, since Russia, China, and other countries are big on 3D, they wanted to redo the format to get that big boost in first run ticket sales, then bring it to the US, as if the movie is a big time blockbuster, and the Americans eat it up off the hype of how successful it was overseas.

They're more concerned that they blew tons of cash on this years Super Bowl ad campaign, as well as tons of outdoor press and advertising for the original date.

Well, at least this gives them the opportunity to come in and do some patch work on the film and maybe do some revisioning to add to the movie to give it a bigger feel.
