I dont know anyone destitute, that's your own misinterpretation.
I don't live in fantasy land, my CDs are posted in the Sticky thread and I paid for all of them.
Whites often make these sick and unfounded claims about Black people not supporting HipHop which is a blatant lie.
Black people are only 12% of the total US population and out of that 12% a large percentage don't even listen to HipHop music we listen to Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Funk, R&B and other Black musical art-forms.
Black people do not have as much disposable income as whites either.
If whites want to pretend they are the only ones who support HipHop then they are the reason why Soulja Boy and Wacka are rich and famous
The two bolded statements contradict themselves. How can we support hip hop, when we don't even listen to it? How many black people, or people in general, are like us, who buy cds? It may be music to those who don't listen, but it's more than that to us. And anyone who disagrees doesn't support real hip hop, and shouldn't have a problem with Skylar Grey singing on hooks, cuz it doesn't affect them.
And again, those numbers throw me off. Sure, the crowd, which on average holds 10,000, may looked a little racially skewed, but its not a big venue compared to how many people we have in the country. If a Jay Z were to perform in MSG, which holds about 20,000, what's stopping 10,000 black people from being there? It's fuckin Jay Z. If a Kanye West sells 2,000,000 albums by the end of the year, what stops 1,000,000 black people from putting aside $10 for the whole year to buy it? It's $10, not a car.
Now let's go down the rank. Pharoahe Monche sold under 10,000 copies of a dope album first week. Is it because he sucks? Or is it because we don't support indie labels? Meanwhile, on the other side of the spectrum, Flo Rida had two multiplatinum singles off an album that sold twice as much... on a major label. The labels know what time it is, they sell singles and shit on albums, and guess who buys the singles? White people. But is anyone gonna legit buy a Flo Rida album? Fuck no, cuz everyone knows he's trash. But the question is, why would Flo Rida and Monche sell relatively the same? Where's the singles sales for Monche? Who bought a Monche single? He had a song called Black Hand Side. Doesn't that cater to black people? out of the 38 million black people in the US, he couldn't get 1,000,000 to buy his shit? Not even 500,000? White people might not buy Monche, but neither do black people. And I bet a lot more white people have a Flo Rida cd than Monche.
