charlie hebdo was fucking satire. They took biting shots at everyone. TO call them racist or whatever is trying to contextualize their content in an American viewpoint and this is one those things that cannot be.

However France as a whole is still notoriously Anti Islamic.

The girls are represented as screaming, “hands off our benefit checks!” A not so subtle reference to the racist narrative of the right,

Let me decipher it for you.

There is a dirty habit in France which consisting in making babies so you could touch more money and not working. These parents take the money to buy cars and material instead of feeding properly and educating these children. They end up for the most failing and stuck in the ghetto.

The new trend is now for french arabs to marry women from their villages and impregnate them in France. They think that they are winning by doing it

What does that have to do with young girls being kidnapped and forced to be sex slaves by boko haram?

It has to do that some muslims in frnch projects are following the trend aka do everything forntheir girl to not succeed in school, forced marriages with some extremists foreigners arabs.

They are trying to get funded by the state through children.

200 young girls in Nigeria were kidnapped from their school by violent savages and these guys' response was to make a stupid little cartoon portraying them as toothless, pregnant welfare abusers.

There's no justifying that shit yo.

those anti muslim protest arent?

Exactly, there's a lot of hypocrisy in France right now. France was talking about "freedom of speech is the greatest thing to society" but now they're cancelling free speech almost completely. France is now run by a bunch of facists who no longer respect the right to say whatever you want. Isn't that what Hebdo was doing? And they made illegal pro-Palestinian protests, smh France is now a facist society.

France has devolved into exactly what democracy isn't supposed to devolve into, mob rule. Despite what people are saying, the French gov't has specifically targeted Muslims with laws specifically designed to restrict their personal freedom of expression through banning articles of clothing.

France also has a long history of discrimination and marginalization specific to Muslims and Arabs/North Africans, starting with their colonization of Northern Africa. (Seriously, look up their history with the Algerians).

The outrage against Charlie Hebdo runs deeper than just cartoons. It's the country essentially advocating discrimination and xenophobia towards a specific population. The xenophobes will argue that you can't be racist against a religous group, but in Europe this Islamophobia is tied to a much larger sentiment against immigrants and "foreign-looking people". Islamophobia just encompasses their overall bigotry into something they can target and mock and discriminate against without considering themselves out-and-out racists (it's cognitive dissonance at it's finest, but that's a whole different argument altogether).

Anyway, mocking Muslims is their way of social persecution and hiding-in-plain-sight racism. The cartoons themselves are more than mocking our Prophet. It's also about mocking the only lasting piece of identity of an entire subgroup of the population. It's telling them that everything you know, everything you stand for, everything about you is wrong and completely violent, and the majority French taking action to prevent you from living your life the way you see fit and mocking you is justified b/c you aren't them. It's the telling the minority that the majority can talk shit to you but you can't to them.

The French have failed in democracy b/c they have failed to allow Muslims to feel welcome in their country. What they've done is take the Northern African and other immigrants and throw them into ghettos. They haven't even attempted to provide them economic mobility or social equality. There have been multiple riots in the past decade emerging from these ghettos based around the government's unwillingness to provide them with jobs or decent living standards.

When you subjugate a population by claiming they are a foreign element not welcome in the country unless they sellout ALL of their own principles and cultural norms, provide them with no economic mobility, mock them in public, discriminate them in policy so they can't even dress how they want, and then touch heart to an element of their cultural/religious identity that is a severe thorn, you are asking for trouble.

Attacks like this and future ones are a long-time coming in that country. Northern Africans, especially, haven't forgotten what the French have done to them. And the current wave of Islamophobia is only a continued policy of social and political discrimination and isolation.

What would you say to people who say, "Muslims shouldn't be offended by those cartoons because we don't know what the Prophet looks like?"

That isn't my opinion, BTW, I saw it tweeted by a Muslim, but didn't agree with it.

Pretty much.

Also, Charlie Hebdo use this free speech shit just so they can keep making Islamophobic, xenophobic, and racist cartoons that can't be questioned.

Charlie Hebdo gets at every idiotic movement and more on the extrem right. It didnt attack Islam. Charlie hebdo is attacking extremist and super mysoginistic so called muslims that are tainting Islam daily with their bloody antics. These drawings has subliminals senses.

No, I don't see Charlie Hebdo as satirical. Satire is mocking power institutions, not marginalized groups. The number of people who commit extremist acts in Islam are only a small sect of the religion. So I don't see it as only attacking extremism when that's not Islam in its totality.

The "Welfare Queen" goes international

Kind of reminds me of the interview - shitty movie being hailed as the beacon of freedom.

Magazine seems like a xenophobic and racist publication but because two retards decided to kill people it's being given the respect it doesn't deserve

Fucked up thing that people haven't got is events like this is how these extremist groups recruit. They don't give a fuck about those cartoons. It was a chance to pop shit and say its in the name of the religion. Every time this shit happens all it does is place Muslims in a constant box of persecution. They get stares everywhere they go, remarks, told and made to feel they're not welcome anywhere, some face violence, job discrimination, etc. So when they break or get fed up who will they go to? Their own.

Same way we know there's capitalist figures rigging the game here, you think that isn't happening over there too??

Its not an isolated problem that can be droned out or jailed, Muslims are everywhere and there's an extremist inside every one of them that can be pulled out. There's a group of people that understand this very well. They want us to hate them to force them together. To push the real Muslims to the side of the extreme. Only shot they have. That's the long con that niggas don't see.

This world is sick. Gonna get a lot worst before it gets better tho.

This whole talkin shit with 0 consequences is a relatively new, phenomena. If you get a second check what Aaron Burr gave Alexander Hamilton for being loose lipped.

This whole post got me llc right now.

Charlie hebdo is a fucking LEFTIST paper.

The Boko Haram cartoon is lampooing the view that Right Wing France has of African women (their view is so little of African Women that they would even assume rape victims to be money chasing welfare queens).

And frankly, its disgusting that some of you are condoning censorship through these means.
