Floyd Mayweather always calls himself one of the greatest of all time. And many people believe he is the greatest. So I would like to hear opinions from you guys, since I know thise site has many Mayweather fans. How does fit with the best?

How does he stack up against these Welterweights (in their primes), past & present:

Sugar Ray Robinson

Sugar Ray Leonard

Thomas Hearns

Roberto Duran

Julio Caesar Chavez

Pernell Whitaker

Felix Trinidad

Arturo Gatti

Oscar De La Hoya

Sugar Shane Mosley

Vernon Forrest

Sam Langford

Wilfred Benitez

Manny Pacquaio

Miguel Cotto

Joshua Clottey

Ricky Hatton

Henry Armstrong

Kid Gavilan

Emile Griffith

Antonio Cervantes

Paul Williams

Antonio Margarito

WTF says Mayweather is the greatest Welterweight? If he fights Mosley and Pacquaio and wins then we can enter him in that discussion. I'm not sayin he doesn't have the talent, but his opponents haven't been the best. You got both sugar rays, Chavez Senior, Duran, Hearns don't see how?

He'd be the heavy underdog against Robinson, Langford (arguably the GOAT),Leonard, Armstrong, Hearns, and Duran. 50/50 between with Benitez, Griffith, Whitaker,Trinidad, Hoya, and Forrest. He beats everyone else on the list quite handidly. P.S. What the hell is Gatti doing on the list???

I hate these rhetorical questions. SMH

We will never know. The truth of the matter though... Floyd is the best right now. I hope he murders Sugar Shane...and he will

I'm not asking if how he would do against these fighters. I'm asking if he is better than these fighters. There's a difference

If Jay-Z would battle Biggie in his prime who would have won, or Nas for that matter? Illmatic Nas verse reasonable doubt Jay...

Damn...all ya'll hatin on the thread just to hate. All he asked was where do you rank Mayweather. There were no hypothetical fights that he asked about.

Mayweather doesn't rank within the top 50 as far accomplishments at 147 are concerned. Welterweight is one of the historically deepest classes in boxing history and Floyd simply hasn't done enough to rank with upper echelon. The only guys on that list he can rank ahead of are Gatti, Hatton, Mayorga, and Williams.
