I will put up my top 10 in a minute. I never post anything without explaining it but will come back to that..

I think the best album of any genre released since 1990 is Lauryn Hills Miseducation Album released in 1998

but you cant classify just what it is.. because it effortlessly blends 70's soul, lyrical hip hop and ragaee riddims in a hot gumbo mix of creativity!

She sings better than 95% of soul artist, raps better than 95% of rappers and it also brings better riddims than 95% of ragaee artist. Its almost too good to be true! too bad she went crazy!

Mariah's Emancipation of Mimi

John Legend's Evolver

7. JILL SCOTT - WHO IS JILL SCOTT (2000)

Highlights: A Long Walk, He Loves Me, I Think Its Better, Is It The Way

Feedback: Probably the best debut of the 2000's. Jill has been incredibly consistent! if you dont owe this album your collection is not complete

220px-Who_Is_Jill_Scott_album_cover.jpg

8. BROWN SUGAR- D'ANGELO (1995)

Highlights: The Title Song, Your My Lady, Cruising

Feedback: Like Lauryn Hill one of those artist that came out with classic material and then went off into crazy-ville. just two albums in 16 years? WTF

220px-D%27Angelo_-_Brown_Sugar.jpg

9. BLACK STREET - BLACK STREET (1994)

Highlights: Before I Let You Go, Joy, Booty Call

Feedback: The Genius of Teddy Riley Continues after the break up of GUY! The tune JOY was Written for Michael Jackson's "Dangerous" album that Teddy produced but didnt make the album so they used it here to a good result. I think Mike made a mistake!

220px-Blackstreet_-_1994_album.jpg

10. ERYKAH BADU- BADUIZM (1997)

Highlights: On and On, Other Side Of The Game, 4 Leaf Clover

Feedback: Shes been strange and weird from day one. But shes a good entertainer and still relevant.. and uh.... 3 kids with 3 different baby babies by Andre 3000, Jay Electronica and the D.O.C.

4. JODECI - FOREVER MY LADY(1991)

Highlights: The Title Track, Stay, Come and Talk To Me

Feedback: KC raspy riff is like Bobby Womack, Jo Jo has the smooth Stevie Wonder Feel. Devante is a great producer. Mr Dalvin is just along for the ride. Absolute classic!

Forever_My_Lady.jpg

5. SWV - ITS ABOUT TIME(1992)

Highlights: Weak, Im So Into You, RIght Here

Feedback: Powered by Co Co's high Register Soprano. The right artist at the right time!

220px-SistersWithVoices.jpeg

6. MARY J BLIGE -MY LIFE (1994)

Highlights: Be Happy, Im Going Down, I Love You

heres the list. I only listed one album released in the 2000's. JILL SCOTT (but truth be told i wouldve put Kelz TP -2 in my top 15) and i think my list proves just how much R&B has virtually died! hopefully this decade brings a revival back to harmony!

1. MARY J BLIGE - THE 411 (1992)

Highlights: Real Love, Sweet Thing, Love No Limit, Reminisce:

Feedback: The Hits keep coming there is no weak songs on this album its beyond brilliant!

220px-What%27sThe411%3F.jpg

2. R. KELLY - 12 PLAY (1993)

Highlights: Bump And Grind, Your Body's Calling Me, Seems Like Your Ready, Title track

Feedback: Introduced the Hyper Sexual style that still dominates modern R&B

220px-12_Play_-_R._Kelly.jpg

3. MAXWELL - URBAN HANG SUITE(1996)

Highlights: (Acension) Dont Ever Wonder, Sumthin Sumthin, To the Cops Come Knocking

Feedback: Recorded in 1994 but the label didnt know if it would sale, in the R Kelly era. They dumped it in 96 and found out people were starving for this new style called Neo Soul! a throw back of live band classy soul music and hes the KING OF IT
