Good question, depends on what's entailed in their contracts. I don't think so (knowing Birdman), but I think they make their money based on touring and appearances. Most artists don't get paid to just sit, they'll get a deal and they might use money from it but they still have to pay it back.

This said, you cannot sign to a label where one of the label heads responds with "what that gotta do with me" when questioned about one of the artists on said label. We thought Bow Wow was just bit bin when he made the same complaints..
