I could see if the child was being abused or a crime was being committed, but to just sit at some random person's table, uninvited, and butt in on their family business is out of line. She should have got up and left when the mother asked her to, but society has conditioned her to believe that she can do those types of things w/o repercussions. Could the mother have handled it a different way?? sure. Do I fault her for the way she handled it..??...not really.

I thought the sideline commentary was tasteless.

I don't know what the white woman said or did but the mother wasn't justified in spitting on or slapping her. The lady should and did have a legal right to be intrusive (even if it was wrong), the mother should and did not have a legal right to physically assault her. If the woman's intrusion involved a concern for her child's well-being then it might have been justified. Your child is not your property, he's a separate person and everyone else has a vested interest in making sure his needs are being met. It is their business. White people aren't anymore or less intrusive than any other group of people (or maybe they generally are but there's clearly no inherent connection because I've come across a lot of condescending and intrusive people of color in public - people who would probably take offense or see something seriously wrong with my doing the exact same thing to them or anyone else who didn't come across as shy, socially awkward or unusual- and white people who aren't). I'm almost certain that some obnoxious black people and other people of color have hacked into my laptop webcam and cell phone and spied on me through my own property and even the cell phones and lap tops of family members and even spied on me through the cell phones of the people across the street who themselves feel the need to spy on me (and they're legally entitled to do so with their own phones, no one else is legally entitled to hack into their phones and activate their camera without their permission). They're not minding their own business, nor is their behavior actually legal and not all of them are white.
