The club's plan to get to that level involves Peja Stojakovic, whose value is now in his contract rather than his shot.

The Hornets are on the lookout for clubs that fall far short of expectations before the February trade deadline. The logic is that some of those bad or mediocre teams will be looking to dump good players with big contracts for expiring deals.

When that occurs, the Hornets hope Stojakovic's contract can help them make a splash. New Orleans is looking to trade his deal, which pays him $15.3 million this year, for a borderline All-Star type who complements Chris Paul.

The Hornets have already contacted Philadelphia about Andre Iguodala. But the Sixers, who aren't yet sure they're willing to move Iguodala, rebuffed them fairly quickly. Philadelphia's getting lots of calls about Iguodala and will have plenty of options if it decides to trade him.

Other possible trading partners for the Hornets include:

Charlotte: If the Bobcats continue going south, would they be willing to move the long-term deals of either Stephen Jackson or Gerald Wallace for the payroll relief Stojakovic's deal would bring?

Damn I wish it was a way the bulls can get in on this loul deng is a complimentary player wit a bad contract

Paul would make him better cuz he a better pg than rose and that 15.3 mil would clear up the dough to sign melo next summer

the hornets would become an interesting team if it happens. as for philly i guess they would give more time to evan turner at the sg spot.

Peja and Hedo both got over by having great teams giving them great shots. Neither one was better then average other then their shooting and both were defensive liabilities compared to the guys they have to guard [Lebron, Durant, KG, etc.]

Iggy is a all star worthy guy who is still young and is pretty much a step below where vince carter was on toronto except Iggy has the heart of a guy who WANTS to win. Him and chris Paul with Ariza could be the new Suns on the west with a pure fast break offense. If Paul is smart and sees that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh's move was not indeed perfect due to them having absolutely NO bench team, he will stay in New Orleans and try and take that core with some solid bench guys and run wild on the west.

i say that all depends on what they do this season...and yes adding a.i. would make this a greater chance he stays in the city

Iguodala ain't going anywhere. The Hornets asked if he was available; the Sixers shot them them...for now. Great article on this subject on the Philly newspapers' website: www.philly.com

Philly fans have always ridden Dre hard. It'll be just like when every other superstar left town: They'll be crying over the trade or lack of signing the player when he leaves town and becomes a sensation somewhere else.

Thats the thing, they probably are tryin to make evan turner the hero for the city and do like OKC did with Durant. I don't think Turner is capable of being that guy though. Building a young team around him wouldn't be bad plus they could do good with 15 million free after the season

i mean yes if yall tryna free up space then yes i understand...and that mean if we do take on a.i's contract...that mean the team bein sold is closer to being done..cuz george shinn is cheap and gary chouset said he willin to spend more to build a winner

but we been tryna get athletic at the wing...and this would be a major upgrade over peja

Man...they've been calling for his head ever since he hired Eddie Jordan. I dunno how Ed Stefanski made it through the off season w/o getting canned. Once the Sixers hired Rod Thorn, the writing was on the wall. Our GM is outta her after this season.
