Honest, both are overrated as far as atrocities go, but between the two the African Slave trade was far worse than the Holocaust.
Sometimes I think the Holocaust is only talked about so much because the descendants of the victims are the ones that control most of the media outlets. Sadly genocides of this nature have happened throughout history. Sadly, even today genocides on par or maybe even exceeding the German Holocaust are going on right now. It was a tragedy no doubt, but the Jews came out of that tragedy better than anyone ever has. They were given their own country and were put in a position to succeed as a people. Yeah ~ 6 million of them died in the Holocaust, but the ones who were saved were relocated and given all the tools they need for success.
Now let's look at the slave trade. It lasted much longer than the Holocaust. Many more millions of Africans died or were killed while traveling through the middle passage. Then even when the slave trade itself ended, slavery continued. A slavery the forced people into the position of animals and often included torture and death. Unlike, the Jews, when the Africans were actually liberated, they weren't given a home just for them and near unlimited support in assuring that the new homeland prospered. They also weren't allowed succeed and improve their station because people and laws were turned against them in an effort to keep them down. It took decades of hard struggling just to get the chance to be treated equally and it still hasn't happened really. Meanwhile, Jews have never had that problem in America and never will. This really shouldn't be a question. The African Slave trade was a much worse offense both in the act itself and the after effects of the act.
Like I said before though, both are kinda overrated. They are bad no doubt, but the don't come close to what was perpetrated on the Native Americans and some of the Pacific Islander groups such as the Native Tasmanians. Blacks and Jews were treated badly, but at least they still exist. White people basically killed off all of the Native Tasmanians for shits and giggles.
