And that's understandable, but the problem is....they never stopped thinking like this, even though they been running the game for 7 complete years now. They don't have to do that anymore. It's almost like they're scared that if they stop supporting EVERY SINGLE southern rapper with a radio hit, they'll lose the grip they have on the game.
But what they don't realize is that they are ALREADY losing their grip on the game, they have been for the last year or 2 and the reason they are is BECAUSE OF these wack ass rappers they support. The only reason they're still on top is because the record labels are so fucking out of touch with hip hop fans that they don't realize that a significant factor in the plummeting album sales is the fact that hip hop fans are sick of wack ass rappers who rely on beats and hooks. "O Lets Do It" gets the CLUB hype, but if that nigga dropped an album next week....that shit would flop because most of the country doesn't want to hear an album full of wack ass lyrics anymore. Why do you think XXL's Top 10 Freshman list is full of rappers who are AT LEAST above average lyrically? (J. Cole, Nipsey Hussle, Pill, Fashawn, Donnis, Wiz Khalifa, etc...) These are the rappers who have a large buzz NATIONWIDE. Guys like Gucci, OJ, and Wacka Flocka are really only poppin in the south...and the reason is because of the heavy support you guys give them. If something is hot in the south, they industry shoves it down the rest of our throats. Most of us ain't really feeling that wack ass shit
If they south wants to stick around, they are gonna have to step their lyrics up a little bit, and southern fans are going to have to start supporting their talnted artists. Dudes like J. Cole, Jay Electronica, B.O.B, Donnis, and Pill
