it will though

freaky gurls will still be around 20 years from now

I doubt it, And here's another thing regarding OPP which is relevant. Freaky Gurl is just a song. Made from a man's point of view, with a slow ass beat, and nothing special about the chorus except it's a Rick James lyric sung by a non-singer/rapper. OPP is a call-&-response type of "anthem". Play it at a party/club and you will always get a reaction from the crowd. Who ain't gonna scream "You know me" even if they're not, when that song is spun.

I think alot of NY people get supporting artist confused w/ buying their albums...niggas in the south support Shawty Lo cuz he's a nigga from the hood who is tryna make it..I've yet to hear anybody, even people I know who listen to his music, say he's some lyrical beast or even that his music is great just htat it's entertaining and the beats are nice...the difference in NY is that up north niggas won't even pretend to support a nigga if they think he's wack but that's because they've been around in the national spotlight longer...the south spent so long tryna get on and get national recognition for their great artist that when they finally got some shine it became "Even if these niggas suck we gonna give them a shot cuz nobody ever gave us one before"...

NY does not support wack shit. They've always dissed it and been against it. They disown their own kind if they are wack. Which is something they've always done. Bottom line, nobody is hating on the South. They just disowning the wack music. And I do not blame them. Nobody has to accept garbage, just because it's fed to us. Problem is, the South has lyrical artist that people will like and accept. However, you guys choose to support the bullshit. And act like the world has to like it, just because it come from there. That's not hate it's constructive critisizing.

LMAO @ you using 50 an example of getting love in NY. That man is not loved in NY. They hate him and disown him there too. Again, New York is not a bunch of bitter haters, like the city is being portrayed. Trust, I been on all sides of the country. And the New York haterisum is a huge exaggeration. And this is coming from a California head who's been there. The reason I dislike the "new" South. Man, my daddy is from the South (Baton Rouge, Louisiana, so he's a real country boy). And even he doesn't like the way these young kids are representing the South. With their overdone and exaggerated southern accents and silly lil dances with raggidy gold and diamonds in their mouth. He shakes his head at that shit. Because that an't the South he came from.

There's a lot of wack West Coast rappers. But that doesn't mean I have to support them and like them, just because they come from where I come from. I never did like 2 Pac, but people swear I'm suppose to be a super stan of dude, just because they bumped him up to icon status after his death. I was never a fan of that man when he was alive, and I'll never be one even though he's dead. And I can't stand Snoop either. My folks on the West are baffled as to why I don't like them. I just don't. Leave me to my opinion.

Bottom line. Nobody is hating on the South (I wish y'all would stop bitching and crying about hate that ain't really even there). Maybe if you stop supporting and pushing your set of wack artist on the world, and start supporting dudes like Jay Electronica (who by the way had to come to NY to get buzz and had to rap like them to get noticed, and had to work with an East Coast producer, because New Orleans was not accepting him), just maybe that criticism would change.

Let me leave it at this. Wacka Flacka is a wack ass rapper. Point blank period. It's got nothing to do with him being from the South. If you're wack and non-talented, then you're wack and non-talented. And nothing is going to change that. It's got nothing to do with region.

Signed, T Monroe

A California head. By way of Wisconsin/Chicago, Louisiana, California, and New York.

I just had to log in to tell u, very well worded homie!!! And I see you've been thru my area (Wisconsin) and that's exactly how most of the people I roll wit think. Once again, good points...although I disagree with u about not likin Snoop or Pac! LOL. But like u said, that's yo opinion and I'll leave u wit it and respect it. Other than that...couldn't agree wit u more.

And that's understandable, but the problem is....they never stopped thinking like this, even though they been running the game for 7 complete years now. They don't have to do that anymore. It's almost like they're scared that if they stop supporting EVERY SINGLE southern rapper with a radio hit, they'll lose the grip they have on the game.

But what they don't realize is that they are ALREADY losing their grip on the game, they have been for the last year or 2 and the reason they are is BECAUSE OF these wack ass rappers they support. The only reason they're still on top is because the record labels are so fucking out of touch with hip hop fans that they don't realize that a significant factor in the plummeting album sales is the fact that hip hop fans are sick of wack ass rappers who rely on beats and hooks. "O Lets Do It" gets the CLUB hype, but if that nigga dropped an album next week....that shit would flop because most of the country doesn't want to hear an album full of wack ass lyrics anymore. Why do you think XXL's Top 10 Freshman list is full of rappers who are AT LEAST above average lyrically? (J. Cole, Nipsey Hussle, Pill, Fashawn, Donnis, Wiz Khalifa, etc...) These are the rappers who have a large buzz NATIONWIDE. Guys like Gucci, OJ, and Wacka Flocka are really only poppin in the south...and the reason is because of the heavy support you guys give them. If something is hot in the south, they industry shoves it down the rest of our throats. Most of us ain't really feeling that wack ass shit

If they south wants to stick around, they are gonna have to step their lyrics up a little bit, and southern fans are going to have to start supporting their talnted artists. Dudes like J. Cole, Jay Electronica, B.O.B, Donnis, and Pill

Well Said its no coincidence that despite all these club type joints dominating mainstream radio, hip-hop album sales are at its lowest point in years.

I agree with you...nobody wants an album FULL of club songs just like nobody wants an album FULL of nothing but drug talk...that's just stupid to think anybody would want that...but what I think alot of east coast heads don't realize is that music/times do change and I think NY was so used to controlling the climate of what was popular in rap that they didn't know HOW to handle it when the spotlight wasn't on them...they reacted the same way in the early 90's when the West took over the game...some of what the east says is constructive criticism but some is just outright hatred...people saying shit like "The south killed hip-hop" or "Insert southern artist here is killing hip-hop"....also even tho NY doesn't support wack rappers on a whole, they also try and pretend they don't exist...like NOTHING wack ever comes out of NY...every city/region has great rappers and wack rappers...the problem ppl have with NY when it comes to criticizing is that NY is rarely ever able to acknowledge their own short comings when it comes to what they bring to the rap game

Now that's an explination I can respect. Well put. Better than the, "Nobody wants to use a dictionary to listen to music" excuse...which I can somewhat agree with that too. But most music that they claim you need a dictionary for, you actually don't. Just a little bit of common sense...and even if u do need to go grab a dictionary or hit up Google...what the fuck is wrong with learning???

y wont the east coast just make better music instead of cryin bout the souf...

They're not crying and they have. The problem is better music does not equal the wack shit that has been coming from all areas lately.
