do people from houston check for anyone not from houston, just askin?

They listen to anybody featured on a Southern Smoke mixtape which can include everybody from TX to FL. And I say they because my taste in music is a little different but to answer your question yes

i thk we moving from the whole "ignorace is cool" era that we've been stuck in for a while...i look at the upcoming MCs that are getting some type of buzz and I thk they all have a lot of potential to make good, thoughtfull music...the people born in the 80s pretty much dropped the ball on Hip Hop...but I thk the new generation is gonna bring that substance back in the future...

Cosign. And I think the contrast between dance/club music and rap songs is becoming more prevalent. Sorta like when 69 boyz was big nobody grouped them with Nas or the Geto Boys. Until recently everything has been kinda mashed together.

I've been in Mississippi for the last few yrs & how many times have I heard K.r.i.t on the radio 0, i'm in N.O all the time & how many times have I heard J. Elec on the radio 0. But it isn't just here when I was out east back in the day I never heard no Last Emperor on the radio. So it's not just the south that doesn't support there best artist. Anyways regardless of where your from if you love that " real " hip-hop you would support "real" dope artist. with that being said J.Cole isn't that dope but in this day and age he will do.

lol....the one genre of music that has stayed home and no one can do it like us

You know what? Go-Go is extremely under rated. D.C. as a whole is my shit, I love visitin my cousins up there.

But on the topic, Ion think they feel any kind of way bout it...yet. Most northern niggas I know still don't even fully understand that Jay Electronica is from New Orleans.

y'all really want it to be east v south...

its not that serious...

but stop acting like Jay E doesn't have an eastcoast style....

eastcoast style includes, but is not limited to more conscious rhymes and dropping five percent mathematics....

and I live in NC, stop acting like Cole gets mad love here....

its the NY college kids bumping his shit...

So this thread is void because the 2 best artist from the "south" right now get more love in NY because they rhyme like they was born here.

Self-ether is hilarious.
