How can someone who has been a sidekick before be in the GOAT conversation?
Kobe wasn't a sidekick to Shaq. Shaq was just more of a standout in his position. Kobe was in the era with Iverson, Mcgrady, Pierce, Carter, Marbury, Kidd etc. The guards were heavy during that era. Shaq didn't really have anyone to compete with.
Also, let's look at Shaq's field goal percentage: 58.2% at an average of 24ppg. Name me a guard who shoots remotely close to that percentage, and averages over 20ppg ... That's right, NONE of them come close.
So now that we see Shaq is way more efficient than any guard in NBA history percentage-wise, why would you go through your backcourt when you have one of the most (if not the most) efficient scorer(s) of all-time on your team? That doesn't make sense from a coaching stand-point.
Also, let's be real. If Jordan and Shaq were on the same team, they would have also ran an inside-out approach, the same way they did with Kobe.. and this goes for any dominate guard on a team with (prime) Shaq. Especially if Phil remains the coach.
