first of all you must be new.

this thread has been made a million times.

second...drake is pop and thats cool but when it comes to hip-hop J.Cole is the truth, if you disagree its simply because you haven't listened to his music thoroughly.

If you want to compare the 2 in terms of popularity and fame and not skills on the mic then yes Drake>Cole

But real Hip Hop heads don't give a fuck about popularity and fame, only the music matters which is why Cole> Drake, it's not even close.

drake is pop.. and just like No I.D. said.. you can only do that singing shit for so long before niggas stop believing your raps..

j. cole is the TRUTH! .. haven't heard anybody bring this type of real to the game since Nas did w/ Illmatic

just wait.. Villematic is going to be a CLASSIC in every true sense of the word..

the J. Cole type will always last in a game w/ no substance..

drake is respectable in his own right tho.. but he's not on J. Cole's level..

"IF YOU SING U KANT RAP NO MOREZ"

Sorry Andre 3000. :(

That Pop shit is just hatin niggas trying to shuffle away the success of rappers. Nigga if you make rap/hiphop music, then you're rap/hip-hop. Only stupid ass fans try to take that away. Having diverse sounds is what makes music art. It's not supposed to be bound by rules like "NO SANGAN! RAP BOUT DRUGGZ ONLY!". Genre is only for definition.

Andre sings for women too. Cee-Lo does too. If you can interpret "Hey Ya" to be for dudes, then I guess. But Drake mostly sings his hip hop hooks anyway. He's still pop?

And singing for a female audience makes you pop? Since the fuck when? And what singer is making songs for dudes? I'm not dying to know what singers that are crooning to you, so you can effectively classify them as "not pop".

and nigga i said hip hop doesn't have a definition..
And oddly enough, you contradicted yourself in the very next post.

but it is what it is.. drake is considered pop now.. not hip hop.. don't be mad at me.. talk to his manager about it..

Or I'll talk to the retards calling him pop.

I.E., you guys.

Everyone and everything else seems to have no trouble classifying him under hiphop after all. And why is Hip-Hop all of a sudden not inclusive to "Pop Music"? Why is it now some derogatory category that you bitter ass niggas try to sweep people who are buzzing under? Was Lil Wayne "Pop" prior to Carter 3? Was Jay "Pop" prior to American Gangster? 10 years ago you could have put Pac and Biggie in the same melting pot.
