I can't speak for anybody else fam but personally I do not care if any of these rappers write or not. Holding tents is a little excessive I'll give you that, but the fact that Drake or any rapper does not write down every single line in their rhymes doesn't bother me whatsoever.

Yall need to stop acting like that is even the winning formula, the boy is talented, otherwise how yall explain the big amount of artists out there with a team of writers that still can´t get a hit to save their life, and those with big ass budgets and endless resources like Diddy and you can´t even remember the last hit they had...

Just sayin, if that is the formula for success then a lot of labels and artists would do the same shit just for hit/radio singles, but as we can see its just not happening and you can stay in denial...

As long as he stops referring to himself as "one of the best to ever do it" I have no serious problem with him not writing his raps either

But(no cliche) I was born I Brooklyn in 87 and in the 90s I witnessed a lot of golden age shit at a young age.

One of the best things about rap around that time was the individuality of it. Every rapper/group had their own style/flow/presence. Writing your own shit and having your own style was an absolute requirement back then, to the point that it was a given pretty much

And dope shit is the natural result of that

I literally view Drake as a pop artist. I don't listen for his verses anymore I listen more for the beats and hooks

He's in the pop lane. I just want people to acknowledge that and stop trying to build him up as some kind of uber dope rapper. It's smoke an mirrors

Lol the fact that you even remember Diddy's name means that he's as successful as he looks/claims

And tbh I think Diddy passes most/pretty much all hits off to French.

He lets French tour for the money and he gets a %

@Sion, remember 50 said those were originally his records for The Massacre before he gave them to Game. Game was signed to Aftermath a little after 50 if not before, but was about to get the Rakim treatment before Fif agreed to give him those records. That's also the reason he put him on G Unit. So yeah, 50's assistance may have made The Documentary better, but it's not like Game couldn't make those records by himself. The label just didn't have faith in him putting it out by himself. Also, 50 said he wrote the hooks for Church For Thugs and Special, but he isn't credited. Weird.

Oh I agree, and by your analysis I don't think people should say ALL of Drake's shit is written for him or that he isn't capable of penning his own shit either.

Same here. I said that in the beginning of this whole Drake/Meek situation. The only subtle difference is that Drake is an established artist that used an underground rapper's energy (no pun intended) to keep his momentum going. This whole ghostwriting thing has gotten too messy for me to comment on in one thought... I'll just say you can't take these "artists" too seriously at the end of the day. They're presenting you art, not spittin a freestyle on the corner.

And this.

I do think its wack and corny that niggas acting like Drake aint never wrote anything in his career all of a sudden because a nigga gave him a couple bars on a like 5 songs (outside of Rico that shit like 75% of the verse), but still

And the fact that the nigga was credited for his work so hes not a ghostwriter. And the fact that none of them shits was even "lyrical Drake" type of records and that mixtape was Drakes worst and least lyrical project.

I see it for what it is he tried to switch it up and stay fresh so he got a young nigga to give him a couple flows for a few songs.

Bro, thats a R&B/pop song they were talking about. I didnt expect Drake to write something like "just hold on were going home", its not even a rap song. Drake loses no points with me over that. you really think Mahjid Jordan was in there writing Drakes verses on Nothing Was The Same?
