During the Grammies pre-show when they announced the nominees it took them 2 minutes each time to name all of the songwriters on "All Day". After the Drake shit I went doing research on songwriting on rap, the shit was/is mad prevalent it's just niggas didn't read the credits or cared.

The DOC wrote a lot of songs for niggas (including DJ Quik), Cube for Mac 10 and WC, 50 Cent wrote half The Documentary, T.I. for Iggy Azalea. It's like niggas finding out TV is not real or Wrestling is Fake. This is the Reason tho, niggas want to believe everybody raps and lives everything they rap about SMMFH.

Hell yea, even Crossroads by Bone Thugs had some unknown writer in the credits

The only rapper i remember having a full album with only them as the writer is LaRon James

50 was mainly credited for the hooks rather than the rhymes.

Nigga this is all common knowledge. That was used as fuel for the Gunit beef. There's levels to this shit. Ain't nobody saying Mac 10 gonna go down as one of GOATS, and him having ghostwriters is one of those reasons. Ain't nobody saying P Diddy going down as one of the GOATS and one of the reasons is because he had ghostwriters. You can't make the claim that you're the best to do it in Hip Hop, yet the reasons you invalidate one person for contender(P Diddy, Mac 10) is overlooked in another's defense(Kanye).

What you and everyone else who defend this behavior are basically saying that good ghostwriting=acceptable and bad ghostwriting =not acceptable in regards to being a contender for the GOAT list.

Fight back.

^^^ even for Higher ? Listen to that song & tell me it doesn't sound like a 50 Cent song. He's credited as a writer in the credits. I had that album & it even says on the wiki.

Kanye and Havoc is credited as writers on there for song they not featured on (they did do the production also). 50 may have wrote more though. It doesn't really specify. It's not there's a reference track. Game still known for being a mimic.

Yeah a producer has to be credited but 50 Cent ? He has no sound snippets or nothing, he's not even in the song.

There's a lot more songs like that from rappers I can post up....

You can still be credited withe hook an song structure, right? I'm saying the producers were credited as writers and producers. I can see the production, but where does the writing come in. The same could be applied to 50.

I remember back when the documentary came out 50 was saying he wrote all the hooks, so he would get a writers credit but doesn't mean he penned the verses.

No you're being choosey. Eazy-E, Kanye, Kim, Game have all expressed they were "the best", some of these so called greats are considered GOATs. So if Eazy & Kanye are considered so & no one disputes it, why is it that Drake is when he says it ? You can't have it one way & denounce another b/c you dont like them.

I never said that or made such a claim, I was always of the ilk that it didn't matter, b/c purists dont dictate whose GOAT to this generation of fans & if they did Meek would have won the battle. I'm I gonna stop listening to Jesus Walks or The Documentary hell nah. Drake wont be the last rapper to have songs written for him and found out about.Never understood how a rapper can have a universal classic album with KNOWN writers but all of a sudden if you know he didn't write a song it's no longer one LOLOL - nothing changes the fact it's classic.McGuire is still a hall of famer.

When did this happen?...

Which albums? Examples?...

I agree with Sion. Ya'll do kinda pick and choose on who to go in on.

Niggas hate Meek Mill now but was tryna make him the Gatekeeper of rap in the beginning of their beef cause ya'll hate Drake so much.

Back in the day most emcees wrote they own rhymes....it was the female emcees who had ghost writers...MC LYTE (Milk D)...Roxanne Shante (Big Daddy Kane)... Only a few make emcees had ghost writers...Biz Markie (Big Daddy Kane) and Biz was more of an entertainer than real rapper/emcee....

Like any Kanye West album, The Life of Pablo also features a ton of artists. Some of them are credited on the songs as features while others are just contributing in the way of either production or writing.

Some of the most surprising names apart from the already known ones who are mentioned in the liner notes are — Drake, who is credited on both ’30 Hours’ and ‘Facts’, and Nelly who is also credited on the former. Some of the other artists and producers include El Debarge, Karriem Riggins, Havoc, Boi-1da, French Montana, Southside and many more.

The album, which will be a Tidal exclusive forever according to ‘Ye, is executive produced by Kanye West while Rick Rubin and Noah Goldstein serve as the co-executive producers.

smfh, a lot of these "writing" credits are from SAMPLES.

True. Anytime an artists voice is sampled they go along in the writing credits as well since their lyrics contribute to the song
