Dude is the product endorser for a company he invested in, he didn't make this money from hip hop, he made it from Chinese factory workers putting together headphones after his record exec buddy asked him to be the name and spokesperson for the branding they were creating. This is not from record sales or from the music business.
This isn't a win for hip hop, it's a win for investing in tech firms and new multimedia.
I won't dispute he's set for life but to call this a win for hip hop is like suggesting I owe my boss if I use the money I make at work to buy a lottery ticket. Where the money comes from doesn't matter as much as what you do with it once you've got it in your pocket and how you invest it.

Its all intertwined. Its still a win for HipHop ..

What are headphones specifically used for?
Last I checked they didn't come with a label specifying their use. Considering Lady Gaga and Justin Biever have had a Beats line, your point is moot since they've been marketed to pop and Eurodance fans too.
His image and allure (which come from hip hop) propelled the success of tge brand. Along wit catchy marketing ...the name of the product itself is genuis & enticing...which goes back to hip hoP...the shit is named beatz for god sakes
A beats by sonny bono or beats by sting, or whoever wouldnt have took off like this even if as intensly promoted
This is in fact a by product of hiphop. Dont try the make the shit deeper than it is
If you do your research you'll see this was Iovine's baby from the beginning when he wanted to invest in tech, Dre was brought on but the ball was already rolling between Monster and Iovine.
This is a case of a record exec working with an Asian tech firm and bringing on a black spokesperson to partner in as well. This is like Nike making Air Jordans and letting Jordan eat off his own branding with stock options and Adidas doing Stan Smiths.
Monster Cable goes back to 1979. Beats is a brand under them, just like Air Jordans under Nike.
This is a product of Jewish investment and Asian factory workers with a black guy as marketing. Just like RUN DMC and Adidas, Jordan and Nike, Jay Z and Nike. That's not deep, that's the facts once you stop trying to fuck with them to suit some agenda like this is any different. If Noel Lee and Jimmy Iovine hadn't got together and decided he was a better face for the brand than they were, Dre wouldn't have any headphone line with his name on it.
