"Acquiring Beats lets Apple begin selling a range of high-end accessories to its own best-selling devices, earning profit margins that can exceed its own. (A $200 pair of Beats Headphones is said to cost the manufacturer as little as $14.) It gives Apple control over a powerful new music brand that has proven especially popular with younger people. And if the Beats brand survives, there would seemingly be a huge opportunity for Apple to grow it globally."

Dre talking that shit..

"The first billionaire in hip-hop right here from the mothafuckin' West Coast believe it"..

Then Tyrese get hype and start crip walking..

They hyped up right now..

I'm surprised Tyrese didnt mention the people to "follow" him on Facebook.

Technically decades, centuries, and millenniums start at the year ending in 1, since there was no year 0. With that the nerdy shit being said, yeah it is the millennium of Aftermath.

@Monizzle14

Who says that Jay has more money than Nas? Do not read everything you see in the newspaper or online. Nas has another personality, he does not brag how real he keep it

lol using that logic i shouldn't believe that beats by dre is about to be sold by apple, Donald Sterling had racist comments, and biggie and tupac are still alive.

nice try you almost had some nice troll game going there almost

Congrats to Dre. But I'm wondering if they could of held out a few more years and it would of been worth even more. I guess they wanted to cash out now. But Dre earned it. Look at that, 90's Era Top of the Forbes list. I still give Puff his props for constantly growing his wealth to 700 Million. Jay is kinda stuck in the 500 Million range so he needs to find some more bigger business ventures.

Puff jumped huge with Revolt. Dre with Beats. Getting folks to drop up past two bills on some headphones. Apple saw the long term potential. But Dre is a Legend and his Legacy has produced Classics in the 80's, 90's and the new millennium. Not to mention all the countless artist he's credited with breaking. LOL @ him and Tyrese in that video. Talk that sh!t. So I got nothing but love for Dre. He can drop Detox when he wants. Everyone wondering about Detox, Dre out here doing multi-Billion Dollar Deals. Give's whole new meaning to "Keeps the Heads Ringing":

i think dre and the rest of the ownership sold at the right time. unless they can make it more international i feel like beats maxed out the US market. Kids been gettin them for the last 3 years for Christmas/bday. Not to mention the sound quality of the headphones sucks so you can't market it past kids/teenagers really. But Dre had a great hustle selling cheap marginal at best headphones for $200 a pop and changing the style of headphones kids rock.

Kids/teenagers buy the HEADphones but I see a lot of adults with the Beats Earbuds.

It's not hate to state the fact that Beats headphones are pieces of crap that no self respecting audiophile would pay for. The sound quality is crap, they're poorly built and you can buy better quality headphones on the market for cheaper. They're fashion accessories, that is all, or else you'd see more people rocking the likes of Bang & Olufsen, Bose, Sennheiser, etc. If Dre can make himself a billionaire selling overpriced, substandard products then fair play to him. He was smart in pushing them as fashion must-haves and if people are daft enough to buy them then good for him.

There is a huge difference between poor quality and poor value. Beats over-the-ear wireless headphone with active noise-canceling get good reviews in sound quality but there are other brands just as good but cheaper. That goes for basketball sneakers as well but your ass still cops Jordans right?

Audiophiles like dynamic sound so they want headphones that allow them to hear each distinct sound. Unfortunately the record industry just pushes everything to loud so the majority of the music released wouldn't benifit from speakers that bring out dynamic sound. What Beats do excel at is delivering bass which is the basis of current rap music anyways.

Typical poorly mixed 808 heavy modern pop rap

Beats > top of the line Sony or Bose.

Yeah I said it.

I'm assuming Dre gave professional athletes those headphones for free because every time you saw a pro athlete warming up, getting off the plane, getting off the bus, walking to the locker room etc etc, they were wearing Beats Headphones.

Genius marketing.
