When Timbland came out he definitely changed the game but I have to agree with you that his R&B music is actually better than his Rap music. Timbaland is a great producer but I personally have not liked much of his work the past 5 years. This pop music he's releasing is mostly garbage. Tim might be in the top 10 but he's definitely on the tail end as far as hip hop goes. If you add in his R&B work he's top 10 imo.

Kanye West is better than Timbo these days. He's better than most producers these days, but that by no means makes him better than Timbaland overall.

Kanye West is by no means more creative, diverse or versatile than Timbaland. College Dropout and MBDTF are six years a part. Timbaland was crafting dark, raw, grimey productions like this:

Timbaland is diverse and versatile enough where he can give you a sample, an interpolation, or an original. He can give an MC a club smash like Luda's "Roll Out" or Bubba's "Ugly", he could give them a grimey street banger like The Game's "Put You On The Game" or Jay Z's "Nigga What, Nigga Who", he can give an MC something introspective like Drake's "Thank Me Now", something totally off the wall like Missy's "Get Ur Freak On" or "Gossip Folks". Kanye on the other hand gives everybody soul samples that for the most part border on mid tempo, introspective joints. Timbaland effectively produces three different genres of music, where Kanye only effectively does one.

I'm not reaching. By Kanye's own admission, Kanye wanted to make beats like Tim. Kanye had Timbaland re-do drums on two songs on his own albums because he didn't like the way "Stronger" sounded in the club next to "The Way I Are" which is Timbaland production. There's footage of Kanye in the studio with Timbaland as Timbaland is re-doing the drums. How again is Timbaland Kanye's son when Kanye is clearly influenced by Timbaland and not the other way around? Timbaland is the reason why Mr. West's drums sound like they do. It doesn't matter if a person thinks Timbaland is the wackest producer on Earth. It's undeniable that Timbaland has influenced the way producers who came behind him program their drums.

I'm not even going back and forth on classics b/c it will all boil down to preference especially since you don't even think Timbaland has a singular classic beat.
