There are a few reasons why I think Wale gets so much hate.

1. I think people expected him to put the entire city/area on once he got some exposure.

2. The whole "he's not from DC" thing. I really can't understand why folks are mad. He lived in MoCo and PG County and we know PG County is practically an extension of DC in a lot of places. Every time he says DC or DMV he brings exposure to the area. You'd rather him say PG or MoCo more often? These aren't spots that are recognizable to anyone outside of the area. It's a mutually beneficial relationship. Even if he's not "from" DC, he might use the city for more recognition, but he's bringing recognition as well.

3. He's not a street dude. There's nothing he could do about that. Let him start talking about being thugged out, though. You think they're calling him fake now? Folks were just itching for him to start talking about guns and moving weight when he signed to MMG.

4. Something about him screwing over go-go groups. From all accounts, this is possible, but I prefer to hear his side of the story before I come to any conclusions. It could be that he didn't bring them as far as they wanted to go.

some people already assume he's doing that w/o even listening to the music he's put out since being on MMG...and let's be real, go-go bands beef w/ niggas over the silliest shit in the world...so one coming at Wale on some petty shit shouldn't be a surprise...think about how serious niggas take go-go around here...you got some niggas who listen to go-go 90% of the time...that's their #1 form of music over rap, r&b, whatever...so their loyalty is always going to fall with the go-go bands first because they're considered the underdog

he blew up off of gogo covers and then supposedly faked on Mikey from UCB and Weency from BYB when they did some vocals on his album. Even though it was only one song, supposedly he turned his back on the people helping put him on.

Ion think I've ever seen another artist have so many people hate on him for shit that never een happened. Like the other day, I saw on his twitter that he told people he cut his hair, and the hatred that immediately followed was crazy. Niggas was sayin he fake, sendin death threats, all kinda retarded shit. Then he posted 2 pictures showin that he still had dreads and he was just jokin...people still continued to ignore it, and say that they would no longer fuck with him cause he cut his hair. I've never personally seen a nigga get hated on and misunderstood like that. I've seen him perform a couple times, and he is a cocky mofucka, but shit wit all the bullshit he puts up with and rises through I prolly would be too.
