For some reason, its always been cool to be the contrarian type in DC. You never want to feel like you riding somebody pipe. Thats aiight sometimes because its allowed the area to have its own identity instead of biting off of what was popular at the time. But people dont know when to turn it off. Plus you could throw a rock and hit somebody that is trying to be a rapper, so there is a lot of jealousy for anyone thats getting that attention. Also like I said in another thread, I think the biggest issue with Wale is people feel like he makes our city look soft because he not like a Wayne or a TI type. So they feel like if they hate on him, people will see that he doesnt represent us. Too stupid to realize they are preventing their own success.

With that said, theres way too much hate in DC and it's not gonna change anytime soon. Its only 300,000 Black people in the city. Probably 150,000 of em are kids or young adults and everybody knows everybody elses business. Thats why when people "hate" on Wale or anybody tryna do their thing they're usually doing it with some knowledge of what that person is really like.

Wale is an Uptown nigga...he acts, dresses, talks like most niggas from uptown in DC whether the DC side or the PG side...as for the hate, most of it is because honestly DC would rather a rapper like Gucci rep the city than Wale...DC may not be the "south" but the music we grow up listening to is about 85%-90% southern...shit ask most niggas around here and their favorite rappers are Scarface and Devin The Dude...Wale's style of music isn't really DC...but I have seen some coming around to him...especially after he dropped More About Nothing last summer

i feel you but i gave up on that hostility. my cousins do the same shit. They live out waldorf talking bout well i spend my summers in the city so i tell ppl I'm from the city not waldorf. That shit will never stop. so i gave up the fight. When i went to morgan state every nigga was from DC. And I'm like shit I've only seen like 6 of yall actually in the city. It's usually the niggas from MD that are from the rich areas doing that shit. Like niggas from suitland just say they live out suitland. But a nigga from upper malboro or bowie gonna tell you he from uptown. Not sure from where uptown but they from uptown.
