Me too, but I can only get about an hour in every night cause of the fam. That shit is torture. Other games I can play while my daughter is occupied, but not this game. lol

Beat the game yesterday. Currently running around level 150 smacking niggas as a member of the Dragon covenant. A dark chaos blade with a hex buff is godly. Vanquishing Havel users with three hits.

Damn son, those hexes really put in work? What build are you? At level 125 I'm Strength/Faith. Plan on going hard with the lightning weapons (Defender).

Dex/Faith, have a thing for katanas. With projectile hexes i can do up to 700-800 damage at the expense of 500 souls. Perfect for smacking dudes that challenge me to a duel then proceed to heal or spam pyromancy at me. If you're doing lighting infuse the chime that scales the best with the lighting stone for that added damage. Also find a Strength weapon that scales well and infuse it with lightning as well. Then you can put the sunlight blade buff on that. Buffs on buffs on buffs nigga.

Ha buffs on buffs. The Defender Greatsword can't be buffed with Sunlight Blade but if you double weild and hit L2, it has a built in buff at the cost of 10 durability, which isn't as strong as Sunlight Blade but still pretty cool. Throned Greatsword is something I'm looking at too, which does lightning damage from the jump too.

Now does strength scaling go down when you infuse a weapon with lightning? Or does it reduce base damage? I think I've heard both.

I ended up using bonfire aesthetics to farm items, summomed as a white spirit to tackle areas/bosses, and pvp'd. I also ate the boss souls since i'm a dex user majority of the boss weapons you can get are shit for me. Bonfire aesthetics can be a bitch tho. I'm on new game plus and the lost sinner's area is on NG++ because of it. Trying to keep that npc lucatiel alive is damn near impossible since mages spawn during the boss battle now. But I want her weapon so bad.

Y'all niggas still playing?

Got about 5 characters.

Main character is a mundane build. With a repose i can get about 1.5K - 2k+ in damage. Pretty much it's almost a guaranteed one shot death if i get a parry on you then stab you with my mundane dagger. Unless you one of those niggas running around with 50 vigor. Most damage i've done with a backstab is about 1.6k. Shit is hilarious as fuck when i pvp on the bridge in iron keep and because i'm wearing light - medium armor niggas run up on me. when i get that repose niggas try to back up or roll away to heal just to end up getting hit by my mundane avelyn (spelling) crossbow that does like 200-400 damage. Also did a no bonfire playthrough on this character to get the ring that makes my right weapons invisible.

Currently doing a no death playthrough with a dex/archer build. In iron keep atm.

Lol, that shit ain't even broken. That whole build consists of me timing your hits. There's huge draw backs considering lag and the damage i take if i fail a parry.

You would have raged if you did any pvp against santier spears (pre patch), chaos blade, moonlight greatswords (with the crystal buff/pre patch), powerstance avelyns(pre patch), and lances.

Sounds like you playing half the game if you ain't fucking with pvp tho.

I wasn't specifically saying your build was broken. I was just speaking in general. I've played PvP and come against everything you mentioned, so it's not surprising. I have less of a problem with what people do in PvP than I do with just the horrible quality of how it's implemented. I've been killed by guys that were halfway across the screen and facing the other direction while they were swinging their weapons. Stuff like that is unacceptable to me. Another thing is, I consistently keep my power down to preserve in-game difficulty. That makes PvP near impossible for me because most people I come up against can kill me in one hit while it takes me forever and a day to get them.

PvE alone is fine with me. Like I said, I can get 100 hours of gameplay just going through the game a couple times playing different styles.

Beat the game and then took a break to Platinum DS1. Gonna do some running around before I start my second playthrough. Can't wait to see some red phantom shit.

Those red phantoms are no joke. I thought I was going to go into NG+ relatively weak and build my character up. The regular enemies were nothing too difficult but those red phantoms kicked my ass. A few of them fight pretty close to how real players fight.

I borrowed dark souls 1 from a friend a few years ago and found out that this game was a winner. I beat it but didn't really explore and missed a lot. I also didn't get that many achievements. Last month the game was released for free on Xbox live and I got the game again. I noticed a bunch of stuff I didn't really pay too much attention to the first time around. Some things were cool and some were annoying.

Ok so now that people have pretty much beaten dark souls 2. I have some questions before I decide to play it or not.

1. Is it longer or shorter than dark souls 1(I mean doing everything, exploring, side quest etc etc)?

2. I noticed that dark souls 1 they didn't really offer nothing really good for sorcerers. They even had lots of things to make magic useless or barley effective in single player and PVP. Hell, you have to go through half the game before you can even start doing magic and most things dealing with magic you have to find. In dark souls 2 did they show some love to us sorcerers?

3. Is the invasion system fixed? I'm talking about how you get invaded more when you haven't beat the level yet compared to when you have beat it. I always thought that was stupid and a bit unbalanced. Also can you invade or be summoned more often or do you still have to wait forever?

4. Do they actually explain invasions or do new players just have to find out on their own again?

5. Is this an actual sequel or is it more like a huge side quest in another part of the world? Or is it a separate universe all together?

6. Is the world connected together like in dark souls?

7. Did they add a good amount of more content or did they they make things more shiny and added a few new things.

8. Do they let you know that your stat increase is being dumb down at a certain point during that play through? I noticed they only allow you to get to a certain number for a stat each play through. Then your states start to increases little by little. When you get to new game plus your stat scaling goes back to normal. I wasted so much time on one stat that I was trying to overpower and realized it didn't matter during that play through lol. The 1st play though it was like 50, 2nd is like 65, 3rd was like 75. They should have had something to let you know that you are basically maxed out.

9. Is character creation better now? I always found it funny that they ask you to name your character but your gamer tag shows up in game.

I'd say DS2 is longer, but length in the Souls games depend a lot on how much you put into it and delve into other things.

There is more magic in the game, and you can find and buy it pretty easy. The build I used didn't have magic, but I've heard it's pretty effective in this game.

3. Is the invasion system fixed? I'm talking about how you get invaded more when you haven't beat the level yet compared to when you have beat it. I always thought that was stupid and a bit unbalanced. Also can you invade or be summoned more often or do you still have to wait forever?

I'm not really sure what you mean here. How easy it is for you to be invaded or invade depends a lot on how active the community is at the time you're playing. If you just pick it up now, then the amount of people at low levels will probably be relatively low. Then again, they just released a DLC so there might be a bunch of people starting over just to do that.

4. Do they actually explain invasions or do new players just have to find out on their own again?

Wel the Souls games have never been about overt explanations. However, if you played DS1, you should understand invasions because they are largely the same. The finer details are explained to some degree by the covenent leaders and in the item descriptions.

5. Is this an actual sequel or is it more like a huge side quest in another part of the world? Or is it a separate universe all together?

This is a sequel, but there is such a huge gap in the timeline that other than little connections here and there, it will feel like a completely separate game.

6. Is the world connected together like in dark souls?

Yes and no. Yes, it is connected in that way. No, it's not done nearly as in DS1.

7. Did they add a good amount of more content or did they they make things more shiny and added a few new things.

That depends one what you mean by content. If you're talking about weapons, armor, magic, etc... then yes they did. If you're talking about gameplay mechanics, then no not really. It's still largely similar to the first game. There are a couple new things though.

8. Do they let you know that your stat increase is being dumb down at a certain point during that play through? I noticed they only allow you to get to a certain number for a stat each play through. Then your states start to increases little by little. When you get to new game plus your stat scaling goes back to normal. I don't know what you mean here. How much you put into each stat really depends on the build you're choosing. For example, if you want to use strength based weapons and wear heavy armor, you're going to need to pour a lot into increasing your strength and equip burden. However, stats like health, stamina, and attunement go up in a pretty stead manner and definitely don't become useless in your first playthrough.

9. Is character creation better now? I always found it funny that they ask you to name your character but your gamer tag shows up in game.

Character creation is mostly the same and yes your gamer tag still shows up.

In summary, if you liked DS1, you'll probably like DS2, but I wouldn't say you'll like DS2 more than DS1. DS1 is the better game, IMO for a number of reasons that weren't really addressed by your questions.
