Heard its coming to ps4/xbone maaayne.

@monk, can we invade early on in the game now like in demons souls or do we have to red phantom up/join a covenant before we can invade without limits?

dedicated servers or peer to peer lol?

Thanks bruh, I was deciding if it would be worth paying dang near $70 or should I just borrow it. I'm going to borrow it now just for the storyline. Don't know how old you are but do you remember ghosts 'n goblins on nintendo? dark souls reminded me so much of ghosts 'n goblins. It was like they took this game and brought it into this generation of gaming. The difficulty level is what really makes me think of ghosts 'n goblins though. Also how it just dropped you into the game and you just had to die a bunch of times before you figured anything out. Thought that was wack at first but then I learned to appreciate it just like ghosts 'n goblins.

One thing I didn't like about dark souls though is that you could easily miss things that were important. Once you reach a certain point it would be lost forever in that play through. This game would have been perfect if they would have dealt with that a little better. They need to make a prequel to this game instead of a part two. Where do you go after defeating the gods o the world?

You need certain items to invade (e.g., cracked red orbs). You can get them outside of covenants, but the most reliable way is by joining up with a covenant. You do meet up with many of the covenants fairly early in the game though depending on what path you choose.

I forget exactly how the servers work. I think it's something weird like they use peer to peer for matchmaking and then switch to dedicated once you're invaded.

Borrowing it's cool. I sunk over 100 hours into my very first play through, so it's not like you'll be wasting your money if you buy it.

I do think this game heralds back to those old school games. That was more or less what they were going for, although I've heard more people say this is a true modern evolution of the earlier Castlevania games than Ghost N Goblins. I think see it both ways, though I think Maximo was a pretty good modern Ghost N Goblins reboot. I don't know if you played that on PS2 or not.

I don't remember too much stuff being missable in DS1 though. I'd say that only applied to a small amount of the content in the game.

Yep, that one too. I got all of those, I was a big fan. Dark souls is more similar to castlevania 3 though.
