When did you fall in love with hiphop? Like what was the first song you heard that got your head nodding and body moving?
Is music your favorite form of art? And if not, what is?
Finally, why has it taken them all so long to realize what I knew from the beginning? That you're an awesome, beautiful intelligent woman with a great sense of humor
Love ya!
Great question Bride!!! Thank you for your friendship and words.
Well I came to hiphop a little later when I was growing up and I heard songs well after they were popular. I wasn't really exposed to it although my mother loved music and always played 70s funk, R&B. Dad was on the other spectrum preferring jazz and classical so I had to pretty much discover it for myself.
Back when BET had decent programming I found my way. I don't know the exact song anymore but Public Enemy, Ice-T, LL Cool J, NWA, EPMD, Eric B. & Rakim to name a small few caught my young ears. I even recall my cousin playing DJ Quik-I had to hide my copy my mom would have beat the yellow off me for that one! I also had much love and respect for the few females doing it-Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt-n-Pepa, Roxanne Shante...
It goes without saying that the 90s was a great time in hip hop. I also started getting more into R&B. Soul II Soul is still one of my all time favorites.
I do lurk the reason and enjoy a lot of the threads but I am an old head at heart and not really into a lot of the newer stuff. I am aware just not playing a lot of it in my own rotation.
While I love music my passion probably is in written form. I love to read, always have. I don't mind writing but I now know I will not be some great writer, lol.
