Honestly, "1st Week Sales" are mostly for show. It's like "Look everyone is buying this album go get it". This is a new era, album sales are getting lower and lower. Your right, Tours, Ringtones and endorsements is where you make your money. Album Sales is where the label makes it's money. Drake is the executive Producer so he will for sure cake off the LP. Look even Jay and Eminem old asses is out there touring, they know the deal.

Before people say anything, I have no issues with Drake but I know people on blogs and the hip hop forums say all the time Labels pay vendors or connections to buy albums to inflate 1st week sales. When Jay Z had a 70% drop on "American Gangster" many people thought Def Jam was doing this.

Your right, Cause "Kingdom Come" did like 680k and dropped something crazy like 75-80%. I never bought into labels buying their artist albums but I never rule anything out. If the machine wants someone to succeed, I think they will succeed no matter what. I still believe Wayne's "1 Million Sold" was a little suspect but he did have a major smash hit song and a lot of hype and the album had legs on the charts (CIII is at like 3.5 Million Sold) so I think that might of been legit. But as the saying going, Only believe half of what you see right??.

crooks & castles can use the purchase as a tax write off.. plus it helps prop up someone they are doing business with.. which in theory will help them push drake related products.. because he is seen as popular music figure by the general public.. because he sold alot of records...

I never bought into the labels buying albums bullshit, why would a label lose money just to look good. They would have to pay for those albums retail and all that money wouldnt come back to them, it would go to the store, distributor,etc and then them last.

Labels do it because of that word "Flop". If Drake or any big Artist "Flops" then ppl like to jump on bandwagons and say oh he's irrelevant and he doesnt matter or some dumb shit..... First week sales just solidifies an Artist Buzz so they can push that second third or even fourth single off the album....

No legit business would go in the red to look good, shit makes no sense logically. It's about be efficient and saving money
