Scarface certainly was well respected at the time in the south, but mostly anywhere else in the country people may have recognized the nigga from the getto boys, but probably not. just b/c you may have known who he was at the time doesn't mean the country did. and my point was that nas had a southern rapper on his album when the shit wasnt even beneficial to him, out of respect for scarface the emcee, and for the culture.
