"College Dropout" > Every other KanYe album............(Discuss)

To me, Late Registration is still his best album. Kanye improved his flow, as well lyrics. Production was richer, more subtle and dark at the same time. College Droput is the album that introduced incredible talent to the world and remains classic in hip hop history, but LR was superior.

Yes "Late Registration" was an amazing sophomore LP, Yes the production on that LP was amazing and so were the songs, yet I still can't put it over "College Dropout". Ye really dropped a gem on his 1st time up to bat solo album.

cd didn't change hip hop...it was one of the best back pack rap albums yes, but how can you consider it "changing" hip hop?

other than introducing kanye as an overall artist, something he showed in a more improved fashion on lr, how did CD change hip hop?

I agree with many that CD was the last Hip Hop Classic.

Believe it or not, I agree, "College Dropout" was the last true Classic in Hip Hop in the last 7 years. Sure there have been some 4.5 micers and maybe a few more 5's but that is the only album you can look back and see a shift in the game. It's funny cause KanYe was like learning on the job on this LP, he was still very raw as an emcee and trying to work things out with his flow and lyrics. Yet the songs came out amazing, the production was even better than "The Blueprint" LP and KanYe had grown musically. "Through the Wire" was brilliant, "Jesus Walks" was Epic, "Slow Jams" was just sick. The singles were great and the flow of the album was great. It's a Classic cause honestly barring maybe 1 or 2 tracks, you can play it all the way through till this day no problem.

MBDTF was great but not better CD. CD had more impact, sold more and was the most influential LP of Kanye's career. MBDTF only confirmed what many of already knew, KanYe is a musical genius and though it's clearly one of his Best Album, CD is his Best album when you look at all factors.

College Dropout had more of an impact, but i believe Late Registration was the better album.

College Dropout 9.5/10, although i feel his sophomore effort was better, the impact and the cultural significance of Kanye's debut bumps it up to a 9.5/10

It changed Hip Hop by placing artist that u would never think work together on tracks. Jesus walks alone broke barriers. It had changed the landscape of Hip Hop and music after it dropped . Jamie Foxx became respected as a serious singer . Twista , a great rapper before hand , became a star after Slow Jams . It launched a generation of artist that heard that album to be more free to become individuals when Hip Hop at that time just had one specific sound . I have many reason why I think it changed Hip Hop but its my opinion. I just think the WIZ , Big Sean , Kendrick Lamar , Big Krit dont get as much love as they do without CD

Cosign. Especially the bolded. You can add Kid Cudi and Drake to that list. Kanye made being a "regular nigga with regular problems" popular in the main stream. If not for Kanye, rappers would still think they had to either be super gangsta (i.e. 50 Cent) or grandiose and exorbitant (i.e. Jay-Z). A lot of niggas don't remember how one-sided the game was before Yeezy.

Today's is KanYe's 35th Birthday. I thought I'd bring this back. "College Dropout" is still, yes best album. As I said this will be his "ILLmatic, Ready To Die, Reasonable Doubt". It's the beginning of his rapping career and holds up very well all these years later.
