That's cool
He's not shitting on Kaep. He just wants to go about it differently. I have no problem with that.
He's trying to play the military card when there are many people in the military that support CK
I don't respect that type of emotional manipulation at all
He never said, "Fuck Kaep" for not standing though. He understands why Kaep sits. He chooses not to because of his military backround. I don't see manipulation.
I see two grown men agreeing to disagree about how they're protesting an issue that they both agree is a problem.
Troops fight for our right to sit or stand for the flag. You're not wrong and/or a bad person if you continue to stand.
He worded his statement a very specific way and I picked up on the context and I didn't like it
Choosing to exercise your right to not stand and say the racist national anthem has absolutely nothing to do with the military in the first place
Outside of battling Britain, the US flag and US freedoms have never EVER been challenged by any kind of foreign force or country
Most strife within the US has been internal, and military played their part in this
Troops don't fight for your right to sit or stand, that's just propaganda
He said he stands because of his military backround. That has everything to do with why he stands for the flag. Keep in mind, don't forget he never said Kaep should or shouldn't stand for the flag. He just says why he does. He also says that he understands why Kaep sits. I just don't see the manipulation. I see two different ppl with reasonable reasons why they disagree.
Was he in the military? He doesn't really say that in the part of his speech that was posted
The first thing he did was mention the military to invoke some sense of US patriotism as if it's some foreign entity that is the cause of black oppression in the US.
You're supposed to think of the troops dying for your overseas, but they're not dying for you, they're dying for the banks. It was an emotional appeal and those mean nothing to me. It was also a deflection
Growing up and across multiple grades, I chose to make the mistreatment of veterans by the us government the focus of many many reports and projects. This doesn't give me a military background but it did teach me that most veterans have a very jaded view of America and the American Dream
I actually think it's disrespectful to say that not standing for the national anthem is disrespectful to troops. The government disrespects troops/veterans CONSISTENTLY.
My very favorite uncle did 2-3 tours in Iraq(I think 1 may have been in Afghanistan). After his 3rd tour he had a VERY serious stroke back here in the states. Then he had a series of less serious but still serious strokes.
He's basically completely paralyzed and he cannot talk. He's in bed all day while his wife, my aunt, and their 3 daughters take care of him. They live on an army base but so the fuck what? I haven't been able to talk to my uncle in at least 10 years.
I post that to say that they used my uncle up like a battery and forever altered the life of him and his family, as well as mine(my mom goes and takes care of him occasionally) and for what?? My freedom? Yours? The official story is because america knows how to run foreign countries better than those countries know how to run themselves
I feel like whenever someone mentions troops when it comes to reacting to the oppression of the us, they're deliberately trying to change the subject
