Eric Reid's dad wants national anthem protest to last all season

Eric Reid made his dad a proud papa by joining Colin Kaepernick's protest.

Eric Reid Sr. supports his son's decision to kneel for the national anthem Thursday before the 49ers' preseason game against the Chargers, according to TMZ.

Furthermore, he told the website he hopes the 49ers safety continues the protest all season long.

"I taught him, if you start something, you finish it," Eric Reid Sr. said. "I'm proud of my son for standing up for what he believes in. I didn't know he planned to do this but he's a strong man, and I'm proud of him."

While Eric Reid Sr. was a track and field athlete at LSU, not a football player -- though Eric Reid's mom was -- it seems he would also throw his support behind Kaepernick if he were in the NFL.

"I stand with him," Reid Sr. said. "It's not that he doesn't love the country or respect the military, and police. He does. It's about bringing awareness to the situation. He's supporting what Kaep's doing."

Vindictive and hypocritical....

These stupid pigs are willing to risk the safety of all law-abiding, anthem standing, allegiance pledging, patriotic Americans because a player wont stand and he wears funny socks??

They're just exposing themselves.. their hatred for black people is much stronger than their so-called love for America

That boy Kap was looking like he went to chill with Ricky Williams 10 years ago then came back.

He saying some real shit tho. Its funny how this country cares more about an anthem and dogs than black men and women. Then tries to bring down anybody who's ask if people dont see anything wrong with that.

If I was him i would keep doing it. Long as he gives the soldiers their respect because its not really even about them. Its about the nation. People just nitpick at something they dont wanna hear or face.

So now hes saying fuck everyone instead of care about everyone.

KAEPERNICK JERSEY SALES HAVE EXPLODED SINCE ANTHEM PROTEST BEGAN

Although Kaepernick is being panned by the majority of media types for his stance, take a look at the tweet below to get a different perspective.

Yep, Kaepernick jerseys — once though to be nearly extinct in the wild — are making a dramatic comeback. That means somebody is out there watching, and being inspired.

KING: Dear White America, which form of protest do you actually prefer?

Its pretty easy to understand why white America is confused by the current movement, while also partially agreeing because of the undeniable evidence.

The message is a bit too convoluted now. Ugh, i could go into detail as to why, but no one will read it, and the amount of stubbornness here is honestly too draining.

Fact of the matter is, its clear black people dont know how white people think, as much as white people dont know how we feel or think. Youre both not giving a fuck to understand each other, and stand corrected when wrong. Its just a shit throwing contest, even from so called intellects.

No one is talking solutions. Just complaining about problems and arguing.

Ive listened to a few smart people with objective opinions on these race relations issues in america, and its like night and day tuning into whats on fox news, twitter, instagram, cnn, msnbc, podcast, random youtube thought pieces, breakfastclub, ect.., and hearing actual smart people with empathy discus the issues.

Also, how the fuck did shaun king get the job of writing for black americans? LOL. I guess i dont know enough about him, besides he has a middle school level of an opinion on the matter on any given day of the week.

Shaun king doesnt know how to fucking empower us, while also being critical of us. He doesnt even technically have that fucking card to pull, and he knows it. Real brothas out here will empower you, and scream on you for still doing dumb shit out here.

Any real dude out here who been around real OG's, know what im talking about. All this fluffy shit where you cant criticize a brotha for fucking up, its just all victimization, and tears, is new school nonsense. I didnt grow up like that, and i grew up around some OG's.

Kappa Kap bout to give them damn Nupes a HUGE boost in the next two semesters. I'm sure they bout to cross 25 brothers at a time now.

These pretty muhfuckers on the yard bout to Voltron up QUICK.

Bomani stated nothing but truth with the statement above but I honestly think people should stop thinking these entertainers should speak out on social issues. Some of them can't relate with what is going on with regular people because they are so far removed from the situation while other people just can't articulate their thoughts or are straight up uncomfortable with getting out of their comfort zone.

It's these people's right to keep quiet even if they do come off as lame for not saying anything. Besides I would rather somebody who has done correct research and has a decent way of conveying their message to speak on serious shit as opposed to a misinformed inarticulate popular face.

I disagree...I don't personally need any validation from entertainers, but just because you rich don't excuse you from being a nigga. Cam should know firsthand... can't count how many times he was labelled a thug coming out of college...it's a copout.

Oh, don't get it twisted I'm sure if any player knows how it feels it's Cam Newton but he could also fall under what I was saying as far as not being truly all that comfortable speaking out on the subject or like many have stated he just doesn't want to lose those sponsors. Either way it's his right to not speak on the subject and people shouldn't expect him to do so.

It's sickening.....they took an oath to protect and serve period......there is nothing in their oath to be selective on whom they protect and serve......I am pretty sure that Kap has taxes deducted from his salary for Santa Clara (home of Levi Stadium), County and California that contributes to paying for the salary of law enforcement on a city, county and federal level. Since he is a taxpayer, they really don't have a choice, what they are really doing is dereliction of duty and need to be called out on it.

The frustrating part is that these police unions are really powerful and can put their lobbying and monetary efforts behind any politician that supports their interests no matter how wrong they are. If the politician wants to keep the unions support, he goes on Fox, CNN, etc and can talk about how un-American Kap is, etc.

I'm over that Cam shit man. The dude is just now reaching his peak after 6 seasons in the league and he's trying to not fuck it up. Nigga was dancing like a mf though lol. Cam has never been the most articulate person in interviews anyway. He brings nothing to the table when it comes to this so just move on from him. I bet everybody is going to ask him about race now though to get that easy clickbait ass quote lol.
