Sponsor Papa John's: Protests hurting sales

Executives from Papa John's, the official pizza company of the NFL, expressed disappointment on a conference call Wednesday about the league's ongoing player protests during the national anthem.

"The NFL has hurt us," company founder and CEO John Schnatter said. "We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this."

Executives said the company has pulled much of its NFL television advertising and that the NFL has responded by giving the company additional future spots.

"Leadership starts at the top and this is an example of poor leadership," Schnatter said, noting he thought the issue had been "nipped in the bud" a year and a half ago.

In revising sales estimates for the next quarter, Papa John's president and chief operating officer Steve Ritchie said on the call that the NFL deal was the primary suspect behind the decline and that "we expect it to persist unless a solution is put in place."

Ritchie said that research has found that Papa John's has been the most recognized sponsor associated with the NFL for two years running, which he said means the company's performance can track with that of the league.

Papa John's has a deal with not only the NFL, but also with 23 individual teams.

Company executives declined to disclose exactly how much money in projected sales Papa John's lost from its association with the NFL and declining ratings, which mean fewer people are ordering their product for game days, they said.

I believe the owner of Papa John’s is a big Trump fanboy so this isn’t surprising...

Papa John's just trying to align his company with white folks so he can sell more pizzas to these fake patriots....this is the same clown that was crying about Obamacare negatively impacting his business.....wouldn't surprise me if Trump tweets out his support before the week is out

I havent eaten papa johns in years and you know why?? its the owners big mouth and cry baby tactics that hurt his sales not any other reason dude is a dickhead

Offensive' Colin Kaepernick Costume Lands Police Officer In Hot Water

The police department for the University of Nevada, Reno, has issued an apology after one of its officers was called out for what many called an “offensive” Colin Kaepernick costume.

Kaepernick is the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who began kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Kaepernick has not found a quarterback job this season after parting ways with the 49ers last year.

Kaepernick attended the University of Nevada in Reno.

The officer, Antonio Gutierrez, dressed as the quarterback and sported a hooked nose and “will stand for food” sign last week. Over the weekend, photos of the officer popped up and spread on social media, prompting an apology from the police department.

“For those who have seen the Halloween costume of one of our officers apparently mocking a citizen who has chosen to take advantage of his constitutional right to protest, I offer my sincere apologies,” said University of Nevada Reno Police Chief Adam Garcia in a statement. “Members of our profession are held to a higher standard and denigrating another — on or off duty — is insensitive for its lack of respect and lack understanding on how others may negatively view their actions and may be impacted.”

The officer will not face disciplinary action, according to Buzzfeed Monday.

“Behavior such as this magnifies unsafe feelings and lack of trust in police, especially when that individual is responsible for the safety of all members of the University, regardless of color, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religion,” continued Garcia in a statement. “At a time when officers should be heightened in their attentiveness to the perception by our community, this act seems extremely out of touch with those sentiments and reflects poorly on all of us.”

The incident comes a month after the department was accused of mishandling a complaint about threatening behavior by one of its officers. In September a black graduate student was pulled over and body camera footage catches the officer saying I'm just going to shoot him if this goes sideways because f--- that.”

The police officer in that case is on leave pending an investigation, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Wonder if Kaep could use this quote to help his collusion case.

What would give papa johns owner the idea from the nfl side that the protests had been "nipped in the bud"?

Could it be that he was told Kaep would never be signed by any nfl team for what he had done and that would make the other players fall in line and not protest in that manner or at all?

Just a random thought cause IMO he had to have been told something for him to think that.

I like pizza hut but I would cut them off if they got on this bullshit as well.

I agree 100% with the statement above.

Before I even knew of the owners political views i disliked their pizza and enjoyed Pizza Hut out of the chains more.

When I found out about how he was shitting on workers when the affordable healthcare act president Obama implemented, kicked in I knew I would never eat there.
