I don't think it's about PR for him. It's about the team. He never beefed with the people that were protesting, but he didn't seem to give much of a fuck about the protests either. I don't think he's out there trying to get brownie points for this though. He's just trying to preserve team chemistry. Either way, you're right, it would have been better if the protests in general hadn't gone down this path. They need to find something new.
