Montel Willams was on a local show called "Great Day Washington" explaining his thoughts on the NFL protests.

“In the history of television, I’m the only person to put the U.S. flag in the middle of their set,” said Williams, 61. “That was the flag I’m going to be buried in. But I respect your right to disagree any way you choose to.”

“Our Constitution confirmed that you can burn a flag,” he continued, as tears rolled down his face. “How dare we not allow people to get down on their knees and pray that this country wakes up?”

“I’m sorry, but I see a lot of people opening their big mouths on television,” Williams said. “But their family didn’t serve. They didn’t let their children serve.”

In the unfortunate circumstance we were to go to war with North Korea, these national anthem protests could get very heated.

I wouldnt be surprised if crackas start advocating people to be shot.

Thats white supremacy in a nut shell---- black people are not allowed to have grievances, rights, concerns etc.

When they ,crackas, do finally acknowledge this particular grievance which is seldom, you get the ole "what about Chicago?"

Shit is frustrating.

he president spoke in an interview that aired Thursday on "Fox and Friends." It was taped on Wednesday. He said "most people agree" with him.

Trump's statements are "inaccurate," NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said on a conference call Thursday.

"I believe there was a statement our owners are afraid of our players and owners requested intervention by political leaders to kick this off,'' Lockhart said. "Those statements are not accurate.''

Trump has spent days attacking players who kneel during the anthem, but he said that his remarks are not a distraction. Responding to Trump, whose attacks started Friday, hundreds more players have been sitting, kneeling, locking arms or remaining in locker rooms.

"The owners are clearly united in a sense that the attacks on the game, on the NFL, on the players were unfair and unfounded, and that there was unity among the group,'' Lockhart said, noting that about two-thirds of the 32 team owners were at league headquarters this week for committee meetings.

"I think there was also a sentiment ... that the issues are being obscured and distorted by people with political agendas. I think [the owners] made it clear they support our players, but also support our country, the national anthem, the flag -- all of the things some have suggested we don't.''

"They have rules for everything," Trump said. "You can't dance in the end zone. You can't wear pink socks relative to breast cancer. They have rules for everything. Why aren't they honoring this country by enforcing a rule that's been in existence for a long time?"

The NFL relaxed its rules this season to allow greater freedom for players to celebrate touchdowns, as long as the actions aren't viewed as taunting an opponent.

The NFL does not have a rule that requires players to stand during the anthem. Teams must be on the field 10 minutes before kickoff, though the NFL said there would be no discipline for teams that weren't on the field last weekend.

"The stadiums are losing; there are a lot of empty seats. I couldn't even believe it," Trump said.

Lockhart said "there is no league-wide directive" on how to handle the controversy. He also said teams are studying what the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals did Monday night as a potential model for responses during this weekend's games.

Titans' Rishard Matthews to donate $75K to organizations in oppressed communities

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Rishard Matthews will back his protest against racial injustice and oppression with action. The Tennessee Titans receiver said he will donate $75,000 to be spread out among organizations working in oppressed communities.

Matthews' donation decision follows his stance stated earlier this week that he would "kneel until the president apologizes" for his inflammatory comments attacking the NFL and its protesting players.

"Moving forward, I don't want this to be a publicity stunt," Matthews said. "I don't want to take away from what the whole protest is about, which is oppression, police brutality and inequality in this country. I fully stand with my brother Kaep, and I plan to continue to do that."

This has been a constantly evolving stance for Matthews, a college teammate of Colin Kaepernick's at Nevada who grew up as a military brat. Matthews' father served in the military for 23 years. His brother, Christopher Ruiz, was a Marine who died in Afghanistan. The two-year anniversary of his death is Monday.

Matthews said players can be pro-military while still using their platforms to protest social issues during the anthem. He initially refused to protest during the anthem out of respect for his fallen brother, but he now believes his brother would agree with his stance. Matthews is challenging those who criticize the protests to understand that.

"I've actually had a lot of military people reach out to me to say, 'Good job for standing up for your rights and people who don't have a voice,' and that they support me whether I decide to stand or kneel," Matthews said Wednesday. "People keep using the military as a distraction. It's not anything about the military. It's about social injustice."

Matthews raised a right fist, which has been recognized as a symbol for solidarity against racial injustice, after his 55-yard touchdown last Sunday against the Seahawks. Before the game, Matthews wore cleats that read "We are one" and "We all bleed the same."

They don't even know that they support Kap's original thoughts behind the protest on the low when they bring up the fact that he was raised by white people and had a better life so he can't be oppressed. They're so blinded by their hatred in their efforts to try to shut people up lol.

Damn shame that this dude don't even realize how fucked up this statement is. The players should feel like suckas cause what they doing is really showing support for the owners who NEVER supported them. The only reason the owners felt a way about what Trump said is because it might fuck with their money. The players knelt because they got called sons of bitches.

None of that shit has anything to do with why Kaep started his protest. These niggas retarded for real!!

Paul Ryan: ‘It’s Misguided To Protest The Anthem And The Flag’

While he made it clear that he believes “people have a right to express themselves,” House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Thursday that he thinks the protests during the national anthem at football games are “misguided.”

Ryan wouldn’t comment on President Donald Trump’s remarks about the protests because he said he hadn’t seen all of Trump’s statements. But Ryan defended Trump’s stance that the protests are seen as disrespectful because they involves the American flag and the national anthem.

“What I don’t think people see from the get-go is when you do it on the flag and the anthem, it looks like you’re protesting against the ideals of America, the patriotism, the people who put their lives on the line, given their life for the country,” he said to reporters Thursday. “So I just don’t think — I think it’s misguided to protest the anthem and the flag.”

He said the protests don’t translate well because people see it as disrespectful to the country, rather than a “political issue.”

“That’s the point I think some people are missing in this debate,” he said.

Ryan’s home state football team, the Green Bay Packers, are planning to stand during the anthem Thursday night and lock arms. The team has invited fans to do the same as a sign of unity, according to The Green Bay Press Gazette.

On Sunday, as many teams across the NFL showed some sign of protest during the anthem, most of the Packers players locked arms and stood during the anthem and three sat.

Another privileged white man doesn’t like how black folks are protesting…

Yeah, I know what ya'll are going to say. White people are just deflecting, but still can't we laugh at how stupid some of the things they are saying are. Look at the bold. This idiot thinks that they are protesting against the ideals of America. How many times has it been said that those ideals are great and that the protests are to bring awareness to the fact that America isn't living up to those ideals.

Black Caucus Chair ‘Utterly Disgusted’ With Trump Handling Of Race Relations

Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA), the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, had some harsh words for President Donald Trump on Thursday in the wake of the President’s continuous criticism of the National Football League and the players who have taken a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial profiling in the U.S.

Richmond wrote a letter to Trump to “express my utter disgust” with the way he has handled race relations in the U.S. in general, but also specifically related to his “divisive response” to NFL protests, according to the letter published by CNN.

“As President of the United States, your use of profane, sexually derogatory language in addressing American citizens, or anyone for that matter, is unbecoming of the office you now hold,” he said, referencing Trump’s remarks in Alabama on Friday when he called any player who kneels during the national anthem a “son of a bitch” who deserves to be fired.

He said Trump’s lack of empathy or understanding for the “very painful history and substantive policy concerns” of African Americans is representative of everything black people have to lose under his administration.

He also re-sent Trump a 125 page policy book highlighting the Congressional Black Caucus’ concerns related to the “criminal justice system, racial profiling and police brutality, among many other issues” as well as letters to members of the administration on the topic. He asked the President to actually read the documents, saying he’s it’s “evident” he hasn’t.

“Almost everything you have done and said on the topic of race or on issues that implicate race demonstrate a shocking lack of knowledge for an adult public official in the 21st century,” he wrote.

Fox & Friends Guest Claims That NFL Debate Ignores Race — and That’s Why Trump is Winning It

Fox & Friends interviewed Dan Bongino, a former NYPD officer and now regular guest, on the show Thursday morning to pump some air into their breathless coverage of President Donald Trump’s culture war with the NFL.

And Bongino made a novel — and revealing — argument against the NFL protests during his Fox News appearance. He began:

I don’t think anybody’s going to question the country has a scarred history with race. That’s obvious, from slavery to Jim Crow. And that’s a conversation we should all have. People should never be judged by the melanin component of their skin, that’s clear as day.

Now, that should be obvious to anyone who has taken the time to listen to the protesting NFL players, but is rarely pointed out on Fox News: that kneeling during the Anthem was originally intended as a respectful protest to draw attention to uncomfortable conversations about race. And that very intent has now been lost amidst a loud shouting match over rights to free speech and NFL regulations.

As noted on this site, elsewhere, and by the football players protesting, kneeling during the anthem is not about free speech. It is not about protesting the flag, protesting the military, or protesting Donald Trump — something you may not know if you drink your morning coffee in the company Fox & Friends.

The protests are, and have always been, a respectful means of drawing attention to police brutality that disproportionately affects people of color; a conversation Bongino claims to be willing to have.

He continued:

The problem I have with this protest is: it’s done the exact opposite. Nobody’s talking about race right now. People are talking about disrespecting the American flag.

Crucially, Bongino reveals in his comments that like Fox & Friends, he hasn’t been listening to the NFL players either.

Eric Reid of the 49ers, who joined Colin Kaepernick for last season’s protest, has repeatedly stressed this week that kneeling is not a means of expressing anti-American sentiment — it is a respectful way of protesting injustice. And Reid is not alone: a number of football players have ignored the shouting match this week to continue to speak about the difficult relationship between people of color and American law enforcement.

So when Bongino says that “nobody’s talking about race,” who is he referring to? Well, Trump and his proud lackeys at Fox & Friends, to name a few.

The president, with help from Fox News, has successfully co-opted a protest against police brutality and shamefully contorted it to fit a patriot-versus-ingrate narrative that pits his white, working class base against wealthy, black athletes. It works for Trump, who now has a fiery talking point for his rallies, as well as for Fox News, sure to ride this culture war to a morning ratings boon. (The network adores a good war on the flag.)

And in case you thought Fox & Friends would have a modicum of shame about their remarkably cynical efforts to thwart a productive conversation about race in favor of waging a culture war, enter co-host Steve Doocy:

“Ultimately, doesn’t that mean the president is winning this argument?” Doocy asked Bongino.

Bongino replied that Trump was playing “4-D chess” with his continued comments deriding the protests as anti-American, concluding: “This was a genius move.”
