I don't think anyone says he is sounding like Kanye. If you were referring to my post then I think you misunderstood my point. I thought his production for Kendrick Lamar was better than any of his rapping on his 'Cole World' album. Just like I thought Kanye's production on his last two albums overshadowed Kanye's rapping abilities on those projects.

J. Cole showed lyrical promise with his early stuff that got him signed so it is not like he doesn't have lyrics... I just didn't like recycled concepts like 'Work Out' in his struggle for a 'marketable' hit. If you think J. Cole sucks as a producer then I don't know what to say to that... I strongly disagree.

J Cole probably gets more hate than he gets love, based on the Jay-z affiliation (rollover hate) or from the Drake superstans.

No one held his hands, if you listen to his early mixtapes you would know out of all these new rookies (Drake, Wiz, Nicki,etc) he has done to best job of sticking to his style that got him signed.

Work Out and his singles are in the same vein as HIGHER, DREAMS, etc. He stuck to doing him!

But neither one of those songs did nothing for him. Say what you want as a hiphop fan/head, but Work Out is doing what it's suppose to do, it's introducing J Cole to a mainstream audience and the song isn't outside his character.

Lupe is three albums deep, i don't think he will get any bigger than he is, he will never be one of those Pac, Big,etc type dudes to me who just dominated a era. He will be one of those dudes who have a fanbase and do gold. He also doesn't seem to know who he is as a artist

Black and Yellow was a number 1 single on the pop charts, Roll Up was nowhere as big as it. I think Black and Yellow sold like 2 mil and Roll Up only went gold.
