This should go rather fast. Personally I think its a bit overrated but I know the masses seem to love it as a classic. Just like 400 Degreez

How is it not classic, how many classic hiphop cuts are on that album alone (Dead Presidents, Can i live, Brooklyns Finest, Feelin It,etc).

As for initial reception, the album took 6 months to go gold which is faster than some albums that were deemed classic back then did.

hek no it aint a classic, he was a local rapper when it dropped and never had the streets like nas or biggie did with their debut album.

his claim to fame was gettin dissed by pac and only when Dame Dash re-released this alum in 2000 did it magically become a classic. Jigga warriors stay tryna re-write history.

when pac and big was alive....Jay = jadakiss

"yeah homie in NY, niggaz like your vocals, but thats only NY dawg yo azz is local"

Illmatic took 1 year to reach gold

Reasonable Doubt took 6 months to go gold

But somehow Jay was the local rapper, nigga sit the fuck down.

I like jay but this album wasnt a masterpiece as everyone really says. It didnt have the impact but I appreciate it because it was jay Zs first album.

IS 400 Degreez overrated because Juvie is a terrible lyricist to you?

It's A Revisionist Classic Pure And Simple...Personal Classic To Me But Its Impact Just Wasn't Their...Source Went Back And Re-Rated It Gave It 5 Mics...Mafioso Raps Over Jazzy Samples...He Wasn't The First To Break That Ground...But It Is One The My Favorite Albums From That Year

@Icecoldstew

Why didn't you put "Feelin' It" as one of the vids?

That's all I need to know, at least you were honest.

When you have song like Regrets on your debut, how isn't it a classic?

Like Reasonable Doubt easily has his top 5 songs on there.
