When i saw Hidden Figures it was almost all white audience but there was 1 black woman in there who would say "I know thats right" or do a loud ass "MMMMMM HHHMMMM" when a character said something she liked.

It was embarrassing.

I will preface this by saying im very well aware that Stereotypes and Generalizations are bad , but this shit is real and fuckin annoying and can be embarrassing.

So i went to watch "Get Out" on Friday at AMC Magic in Harlem (great movie by the way highly recommend it for those who aint seen it by now), some of the behaviour is pretty appalling from the jeering, cussing , to screaming at the screen, to loud conversations, checking and texting your phones during the movie, then when people kindly ask for you not to do that because you want to concentrate or hear the dialogue they get all defensive and mad.

This has happened in every movie I have gone to see where there is a predominately large Black audience and "alot" of black women i have seen or been around are really the biggest perpetrators of this shit , trynna make themselves the centre of attention instead of the movie we all equally paid money to go watch.

I dont mind people enjoying the movie and reacting with whats going on screen which does make the cinema experience really good especially if everyone is into the movie but some of the behaviour is fucking uncalled for and really seems exaggerated, and im sorry to say but when i go to neighbourhoods with predominately white audiences its never ever like this.

Anyone else have a problem with this ,does this or has noticed this and do you have an issue with it ?

Is it safe to say this isn't just a stereotype? It's not so much that black people are more rude or ignorant than other moviegoers. A lot of black people just seem to think movies are an interactive experience.

I remember I went to see Spider-Man 2 and this black lady next to me had a comment about everything. Was annoying.

I don't go to movies now but when I do I would go to the theater further downtown on 29th street. All I have to deal with is white ppl applauding the movie when it's starts and when it's done

Lol i never been to a movie where ppl applaud the film.

That would be weird as hell

there is interaction with the movie experience and there is acting like the cinema is a Bar, and not being aware where you are ,also that there are other who paid to watch the movie.

Watching a movie at theater is not an interactive experience.

the movies were damn good lol what can i say.

That can bee annoying but you can kind of look at the small screen/big screen as an equivalent to sports to women. Word to

in before the inevitable mens thread

Babies are woat..shouldn't even be allowed in..I didn't pay to hear your big headed ass baby cry the whole movie..and then have the nerve to pace back and forth down the aisle with the baby..they ought to charge double price for a baby

Its not just black women.

Babies are the worst, get a babysitter or stay your ass at home. I saw this bad ass kid kick seats in front of him while his mom not paying attention because she was hugged up with her date.

Had a teen couple make out and kiss smacking the whole movie.

Ive been to a ton of movies where ppl clapped at the end cause it was a really good movie, not uncommon at all, i dont do it tho

Had a predominantly black audience when I saw Get Out. Everyone was interactive but far from intrusive.

I think that should be the golden ideal: an interactive movie experience but neither too intrusive or dead silent.

I know several people who will raise hell if they see other people talking during the movie. I get it, but they can be just as bad as the talkers. Only makes matters worse for everyone else.

I can't throw shade for this. I have the loudest most annoying laugh. Shit is embarrassing I feel bad for my girl when we're in public sometimes l
