What would be some decent areas though? Thanks for the input.. I already have a car and I'd probably rent or lease an apartment for the first year to get adjusted to the environment. This is all subjective right now though as I haven't decided..

Right now I'm in Detroit working... Was contacted about the Chicago position earlier today.. The money sounds good but damn I'd have to figure out an arrangement for my daughter, my son's older so I know he'll wanna roll with me. There's a lot to factor in besides the job itself lol.. One of my coworkers is from Chicago so I'mma get some insight from him tomorrow as well.. Gotta do a cost of living comparison as well.. Props on all the info so far..

Chicago shits all over detroit in every category and I dont even like chicago that much. If you got kids i suggest one othe suburbs like boilingbrook, napperville.

If you intent on lving close to the city try edgewater. The cost of livng is more expensive then detroit. but we got hella good public transportation. you can catch a bus or A train any where in the city

in 5 MINUTES no joke. you aint gotta wait half hour. This saves me alot of money on gas, and just agony of dealing with stupid niggaz on the road

One thing though sales TAXES are the highest in the country. if you smoke you might wanna quit that shit now. As far as crime well we just as bad as detroit and st louis now

but its only in certain neighborhoods not everywhere like detroit. Downtown and most white neighborhoods pretty safe.

Good looking out!!!! I don't smoke so I'm good on that and that public transit sounds good cause I HATE heavy traffic. Not too worried about crime cause I've learned how to deal with that living here lol..

I can. The same job I got in Milwaukee is double in pay in Chicago. The only problem is the commute in the morning and the taxes.

$55 an hour...damm fam, u need to put all of us on with u!!!! But anyway, if u making that much bread, u will wanna find something near downtown or the North side. Hyde Park is cool too and a few of the surronding suburbs, but if u move out west or somewhere like Englewood, u will get got

....bronzeville is an up and coming area if youre trying to live in the city...hyde park is more of an established area, though...be careful which burb you go to, cause some of those kids turn out worse than inner city ones...Evergreen park has a nice cultural blend, though...i guess it depends on where in the city you'll be making...

I did a salary comparison and $55 per hour in Chicago equals $47 per hour here in Detroit. Still would be a raise, just not as much.. Well if I decide to take it we'll be livin in the burbs like we do here lol.. I heard the winters are more brutal there than here..
