Everyone's covered the main points with him, but the no cursing thing fucked up his perceived image a lot because it came as a response to the refocused rap crusade by conservative white media at the time. O'Reilly and Fox News specifically went at "gangsta" rap's profane lyrics and Chamillionaire stepped out there saying he wouldn't curse anymore.
I've got damn near everything he's ever released, and it's nowhere near profane enough for him to even acknowledge that type of criticism (especially since he wasn't under direct attack), so the fact that he did acknowledge it made everybody who rode with him look like, "Why is Mr. Fuck-The-Establishment so quick to bow down?"
After that, I think he bucked on Universal to prove he was the same old Koopa. He's still making dope music, but now he's back at square one because "that's where he wants to be" and doesn't have to worry about label politics.

Couldn't have said it better myself, I used to be a real big fan...partly because he was so against the system.....I understand you have to grow as an artist but that whole "not cursing" thing through me for a loop....like you said...he didn't curse that much to begin with.....he should have never came out and said he wasn't.....it's like he was looking for a pat on the back from them white folks....plus his music just wasn't as good anymore....who knows maybe I just grew out of listening to him....was listening to dude back in 99.....there was a time frame between 03 and 05 when I felt like Cham could not be fucked with....
