boy was this episode intense. i hope the critics and the detractors who said the show had no direction and plotlines that went nowhere are now eating crow. i put faith in terrence winter and his group of writers much more than i would them. the pieces are starting to fall in place and he's taking us somewhere. im just happy to be along for the ride. and this episode was yet once again a protoypical example of showing how this series is at its absolute best when there is no margaret (or gillian) on the screen.
I think sally is solidifying herself as my favorite female character on the show. she's sassy, sardonic, always thinking 3 steps of nucky, and actually got that nigga to be the one to break bread on her towards the end. she doesnt seem like the type that is just going to lay down play second fiddle. totally unlike the other women who crossed nuck's path in the past. it appears he has met his match
mickey doyle can be furtive and sneaky once in a while, but u gotta feel sympathetic to his situation sometimes. this fool has the worst luck when it comes to getting pussy. it did appear that sally was going to give up the draws, only that was soon shut down by nucky. it reminded me of that other scene when he was going to fuck the fat bitch and got beat up. love his occasional wise cracks. he offers us that slapstick silliness that can arguably be seen as the only light-hearted moment on a show that can otherwise be very dark and gothic at times.
it appears that the grooming of willie thompson as a nefarious figure entering the family business has started. but it may inadvertently be at the expense of his own uncle's empire descending into shambles. knox reveals to eli that he is the lead investigator against bringing down his brother's organization. and after extracting some info from clayton in prison, he uses it to blackmail him into talking. although we never see if eli agrees to play as knox's informant, it is strongly implied. i mean eli has crossed his brother one time already in the past. whats to say he wont do it again to save his son from facing the inside of a cell? but on the flipside of that, nucky was the sole reason for willie avoiding prison time to begin with. will eli realize that and back out at the last minute?
damn purnsely, sucks it had to be u. but his devious ways had to catch up with him eventually. this all started when chalky grew suspicious of the father deacon murder and seeing dr. narcisse's reaction to the entire thing. it causes him to take purnsley along with him to raid the home he agreed to give over. after finding out its a heroin house, purnsely quickly shoots his partner(i rewinded that scene at least 8 times) to prevent him from indicting and connecting him with narcisse. he fucked up tho, because chalky went into his pocket and found the flyer of the play the doctor was doing. this caused him to visit the site the play was held at and burn the heroin in plain sight of everyone (including narcisse). obviously narcisse was feeling that shit. and arranges for him to be killed. one thing im sure he didnt bank on was daughter developing feelings for chalky. or maybe she still holds a grudge against the doctor for killing her mother? either way it sets up a showdown for the ages. i mean on some breaking bad level type shit. i was on the edge of my seat during the entire struggle. and just as it appeared that white was going to be strangled to death, daughter comes in for the kill. obviously word is going to get back to narcisse that purnsley is dead and white is alive, so im wondering if the 2 of them flee off somewhere together
every episode gets better and better. and we're just a little past the midway of the season. we still got 4 episodes left. so i say bring it the fuck on
