Another great episode. i still have the firm belief that season 2 is my favorite thus far. but if terrence winter and can keep it up at this level, it may even possibly surpass that
narcisse wants to get back in the heroin trade by partering with AR. but AR has pulled out from due to masseria (for monetary reasons). narcisse then asks madden to deal with him directly, though madden warns narcisse he doesnt like to deal with the colored types. im interested to see the exhcnage between those 2.
speaking of AR, meanwhile he seems to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. it seems as if the countless losses in gambling are starting to mount and take tolls on his pockets. it causes him to reach out to nucky in an offer to sell him a life insurance policy on doyle. so nuck claims doyle is no company of his and happily obliges. but i wonder if its because he really thinks doyle's life is worthless, or is it maybe to keep AR in his pockets for another favor down the line?
gillian seems to be doing well with her "knight in shining armor" (i use that phrase loosely). she even gives him a twisted story that only the likes of her kind can give to have him become more sympathetic to her. but just as i called it earlier, mr. roy isnt who he seems to be. i mean the story of a mysterious figure sweeping a pycho junkie of her feet and riding into the sunset sounded too good to be true for a show like this. i really want to know who that was on the phone he was talking to?
nice to see richard back in Atlantic City. And also married to Julia. i mean i know its part of a bigger plan to try and win custody over tommy, but i think harrow deserves to have some delight in his life. also i was jumping up and down like a monkey during the scene of when he approached mucky saying he wanted a job i mean finally, i was waiting for the longest to witness the time of when richard would work under nuck
we later see the doctor interrogating daughter about purnsley passing and chalky never making it to the meeting. it seems like the more she told her story, the more narcisse saw through the bullshit. powerful scene when he was brought to tears only to ike turner her suddenly there after.and of course when chalky sees it he confronts the doctor. chalky also reached out to nucky for help. this is where i had an issue. yea i understand he doesnt want to stir the pot because narcisse is working with madden and it can cause another all our war. but the part that got me was when he got on chalky for not keeping his house in order due to getting caught up with maitland. i mean the nerve of this fuckin fool. lest we forget, that was the exact thing that happened to him last season with billie. had he not been so much of a sucker for love ass nigga for her, he probably wouldve saw gyp taking over atlantic city.
But i must say my favorite and the storyline ive been waiting to see happen for the longest is the one involving van alden. he's been a fan favorite among many but some of those same people felt like his character has become neutered and subdued along the way. well those feelings can now be put to rest. i mean you could only play this false dichotomy of mueller/van alden for so long. and we know he can only be pushed around until it culminates to a point of him lashing out violently. as we saw with the guy who's face he burned by the iron. but also with o'banion and his wife. also like how the writers stayed within the realm of history by having frankie yale being the one who's responsible for his death. im just now interested to see what his and capone brothers relationship will now be now that he's revaled his true character
