The difference is, I'm a Nas fan, and since I don't care about YM or MMG, I had no idea that he had done any of that.
Jay on the other hand does it in a way that makes it obvious to everyone that he collabed with a certain artist. On top of that, he incorporates whatever is popping at the time into his own work in an effort for it to see more current.

Bruh I don't live in the Reason and if I see anything like MMG, YM, Ross, Wayne, Drake, etc... I tend to skip over the topic without even giving it any thought. If it's not something I specifically want to hear, I probably don't know it exists.

Why are people in here acting like we're saying Jay is wrong for collaborating with a new artist? We're not. We're pointing out a fact that Jay jumps on whatever bandwagon is riding and goes with it.
There is a difference between an artist building a relationship with a new artist and collaborating with them and an artist finding the new hit of the day and making sure to have at least one track released publicly to keep your name ringing. Ya'll are talking about people who do the former. We're saying Jay does the latter. And the thing is, again, Jay doesn't even try to hide it. I bet if you ask him he'd admit to it because Jay is just business oriented like that. To him Hip Hop is a hustle every bit as much as it is an art form.

one can collab with a new, hot artist often with the sole intention of keeping their name hot and relevant. yeah they might have a good chemistry but once that hot artist cools off the collabs might stop
