At least Jay don't duck nobody. He'll do a joint with anybody. He usually shines, but Kendrick's 2nd verse was clearly the best.

As a sidenote, I had an argument on Twitter with like 5 niggas about Lupe saying he's scared to do a song with Talib. Shit like that is unacceptable. Hip hop is a blood sport. You can't duck other great MC's cuz you scared they gon' outshine you. SMH.

Why would he duck anyone? That's part of the way he has stayed relevant, by finding the bandwagon of the day and jumping on it.

meanwhile, NAS jumps on two YM albums, and 3 MMG albums/mixtapes and gets little to no hate about it....

Right. Along with a million other established artists who do it. But I've given up questioning niggas on their apparent hate for certain artists.

The difference is, I'm a Nas fan, and since I don't care about YM or MMG, I had no idea that he had done any of that.

Jay on the other hand does it in a way that makes it obvious to everyone that he collabed with a certain artist. On top of that, he incorporates whatever is popping at the time into his own work in an effort for it to see more current.

Why is it that you lames think that anytime someone has an opinion about your hero that you don't like that they are hating? I'm not even saying it's a bad thing. It's smart and clearly has worked for him. I really can't believe people would even argue this point. It's obvious and Jay doesn't even try to hide it.

I didn't. How would I? I don't listen to MMG and YM. I have no idea what is on their albums. And I like Nas, but not enough to pay attention to every feature he does or cameo he makes.

So y'all gon act like Nas ain't jump on Ross shit, MMG shit, Nicki shit, Tyga shit, Carter 4 etc?

Nas and Ross been collabin since DTR, think it might be a Def Jam thing. Can't speak on YM tho, never got that.

But we all know how Jay is, no one can deny that he's an opportunist.

Bruh I don't live in the Reason and if I see anything like MMG, YM, Ross, Wayne, Drake, etc... I tend to skip over the topic without even giving it any thought. If it's not something I specifically want to hear, I probably don't know it exists.

it's not a problem until jay-z does it

*veteran artists working with newcomers*

this is a good look for hip hop

*jay-z working with newcomers*

look at this bandwagon ass nigga tryna stay relevant

but anyway, I woulda thought jays verse was french montata status given the way y'all shitted on it. I thought it was dope and jays best featured verse in a minute. dare I say Kendrick and Jay were pretty much even until the last verse. Kendrick blacked the fuck out

Why are people in here acting like we're saying Jay is wrong for collaborating with a new artist? We're not. We're pointing out a fact that Jay jumps on whatever bandwagon is riding and goes with it.

There is a difference between an artist building a relationship with a new artist and collaborating with them and an artist finding the new hit of the day and making sure to have at least one track released publicly to keep your name ringing. Ya'll are talking about people who do the former. We're saying Jay does the latter. And the thing is, again, Jay doesn't even try to hide it. I bet if you ask him he'd admit to it because Jay is just business oriented like that. To him Hip Hop is a hustle every bit as much as it is an art form.

Damn this nigga voice is terrible... That Hook is fucking horrible and the beat is ehh... I just cant fuck with this dude music...

im tryna give him a chance i really am.... i fuck wit dat poetic justice... but i cant fuck wit dis.. and i couldnt fuck wit his verse on " fuckin problems".... but "swimming pools" was ok..... he jus aint consistant enough 4 me 2 get into his music like dat...

check out the album version and yeah i agree with you tho as far as collabing on other folks records kendrick sounds off ... but i think thats cause hes so different from those guys ... samething happen with J Cole ... i used to think he just probably sucked @ collabing but its more cause they are different artist ......

def some unorthodoxed flows on this one i like it tho ... the original is def better but its a more focused track and def more of a production ... this one right here sounds like something that was emailed to kendrick .... and kendrick went right in an dropped his new verses ... more of a mixtape piece than an actual remix .... like Trinidads all gold everything remix ....

not really

one can collab with a new, hot artist often with the sole intention of keeping their name hot and relevant. yeah they might have a good chemistry but once that hot artist cools off the collabs might stop

I see what you're saying but it's not that black and white

True. Well, I'll just say that it's my perception of the moves Jay makes, and leave it at that.

lol Fair enough.

LOL

NaS is featured on mediocre rappers shit to give them some sort of credibilty like he ALWAYS murks his guest spots

Jigga on the other hand clings to any 'hot' act just to get shine and in this case even K.Dot outdid him
